has anyone ever seen the spanish tresure fleet in the game yet? if so, how do you recognise it? how much plunder does it contain?

If it's like the earlier incarnations of Pirates!, if you are in the right place at the right time, you'll be told that the treasure fleet or the silver train are in town when you enter a city, and can capture it when you successfully attack the town.

I'm not sure if I've actually seen it, but according to the manual/strategy guide, the fleet starts at Trinidad and moves west along the Spanish Main, up to Cuba and back east to Europe.  According to the wording in the guide, it may be a single ship, possibly it's labeled with something special, I'm not sure.  If it is, I don't think I've seen it yet.  I think you have to attack the ship though, since sacking a port only gets you ransom money.

I belong to another forum on pirates....and it is known that th e treasure fleet thingie in the game is broken.  Once you find and defeat the treasure fleet, it is gone forever, and the barmaid keeps telling you it is going to the same town, but it never arrives.  Possilbly a patch will come out to fix this.

do you SERIOUSLY think the spainairds are dumb enough to wend another tresure fleet after you have beaten it once? you get the thing until you beat it, then you lose it for that game.

but do you SERIOUSLY think they would tell every barmaid arouind? nope, they send out falswe stories, and then sneak the thing home while every pirate is fighting each otherr as they all turned up at where the spanish said the treasure fleet wass fgoing to be, and then it isn't much of a bother to  hunt down the one remaining onwe( the player) and sink him, is it? it would onlu take 8 winsd( konew per ship) and then they would ber safwe again

Yeah, I've seen a bunch of them, with the patch they come out of ports. It's a matter of being in the right place at the right time too though. They generally carry about 5,000 Gold on them...

Spanish Treasure Fleet

I belong to another forum on pirates -- and it is known [there] that the treasure fleet thingie in the game [T2] is broken.  Once you find and defeat the treasure fleet, it is gone forever, and the barmaid keeps telling you it is going to the same town, but it never arrives. Possilbly a patch will come out to fix this.

What a collection of idiot want'a-be pirates! Broken game and patches - s h i t. I think by the time of the Spanish-American war someone will have blown your pirate kingdom island away.

If you "beat the fleet" once in a game, you understand gameplay to an excellent level. Start a new game you idiot joker! If that doesn't work, reinstall the game.
