Faction Support

My kids went and dragged out my highschool yearbook, and reminded me of my highschool years, so I started working on a scenerio where the happiness of the Nerds was the most important.....

I used the suggestion here to capture the Tropicans who had UnitUIFactionSupportIntellectual>=25, which works great... it records those who have at least one "+" for intellectuals, and matches exactly the List of Intellectuals in the Almanac.

Unfortunately, the Politics\Faction Support\Intellectuals page started showing more people after a few years -- people who did not show up on the Intellectual List.

I used the Intellectual Respect display, which shows the green and red arrows over their heads.... Here on the upper-left you see one of the Tropicans -- Francisco Parque -- who shows on the list of Intellectuals, but is not an intellectual supporter. You see on the upper-right that he has zero arrows for intellectuals, The Lower-right shows he is one of the worst of the detractors.

Actually, I used Professor, Heir Apparent, Scholorly to get the maximum plus on the Intellectuals. Perhaps that plus is throwing off a few.... or maybe something weird -- like family of intellectuals are considered part of the faction too.... In any case, if I just ignore the number, my scenerio works just fine.

Hmmm.... checking at the beginning of the game.... the ++ and +++ people were members of the intellectual faction, but not all the + ones.... also some of the "detracters" were members, oddly enough.

it's the same as with unions today... some will disagree with the main opinion of the faction, hence be a detractor.

sometimes this happens to me too. The arrow things above the peoples heads show that I have a bunch of Capitalists and hardly any Communists when reall I have a lot of Communists and hardly and Capitalists.
