i have to admit, it isn't the capoturing ships that has me most interested in pirates, it's sacking the towns i most like, a habit of mine is to wipe out the defences of a town ( they insantly recruuit 100 men to hold the place.)

what's your opinions of this side of it?

my opinion is how do you sack a town, so maybe bombarded it with Long-range Demi-Cannon imported from the Turks. Grin

i think that before you post something like that, you should check to see what we are talking about, you nxcanot bombard a town. much as i have wanted to, ship to land battles have been taken out with the remake

true............... anyway, do peoiple have any particular strategy for taking a town? i myself like to send across many pirate raiders from a pirate haven, to knock down the defences, they are always beaten, but the garison is reduced down to where my men are about as numerous as the garrison, and then i attasck, and smash the garirson.

also, one tip- if you can knock the garrison down to less than 80 soldiers before launching your attack, you will fight thwe captain of the guad rather than isiong a full-dscale battle, meaning that it is easier to sack the town. if yiou can beat captains as reliably as i can, it should be a breze. i rarely lose a hand-to -hand battle in pirates!

You cannot bombard a town, but a port can bombard you.  I pursued a prey ship too close to a port allied to that ship and hostile to me the port's cannons opened up a barrage on my pirate ship.
