The late news report is that Electronic Arts has taken a big hit in its latest profit report. For the last quarter (Jan-Mar '05), it reports $8 million in profit whereas in the previous comparable period it reported $90 million.

It seems that the computer gaming industry is muttering about which game machine is going to be the big revenue producer because the most popular games can be played only on a machine that costs big time and can't be used for anything else. Of course, the games play only on the game machine they were written for; and they cost more money to buy.

Meanwhile back here in "desk-top/lap-top" Personal Computer land, we have become the "throw-away" gamers.

So indeed, why worry about "hacking?"

theree are some game studios, notably ensemble studios, the creaters of the upcoming age of empiresd 3, that still cater very well to the pc market though, but mopst have abandoned it, true enough.

It is indeed sad that so many companies have caught cases of 'consolitis', producing trashy games, or even ruining long-running series, EX: Rainbow Six 3.
EA seems especialy bad, although a few of their games are quite fun, C&C: Generals comes to mind.
But, there are SOME companies at least that are producing good games, Codemasters for instance, who created Perimeter and Operation Flashpoint, although Flashpoint wasnt so great for me Tongue

(I know I said I wouldnt post in your topics, but this one is important to me Tongue)

Paradox Entertainment is still devoted to PC gamers.

They just keep improving on the EU engine and spinning it off on new time-periods.

PE pretty much has human history covered from the first empires... to the end of WW2.

The players are active in modding and improving games... with the support of PE.

I hope EA bites the dust... one less entity producing trash.

you can say tahat again. i remember,  bought an EA game, and it ruined my computer! the thing kept re-starting. i reckon it was the CD that caused it. i can't be bothered to complain though.
