It seems that not many female humans play computer games.  Are we living on planet Ferengi [Star Trek] but with all the females wearing clothes?   Angry

DAAAANG, CD, U SHORE DEED OPEN A CAN O WURMS ON DIS WON!

I think it has to do with how males and females think. Males have consistently shown themselves throughout history to be infatuated with new gadgets and the invention thereof, whereas females have, for good, bad or indifferent reasons, found themselves checking out what the males have come up with after. Where males will come up with something on a bet just to show it can be done, female invention usually has a helping purpose that will benefit many.

As much as we might deny it, games are pretty much a male invention of the 'I/we can do this on a bet' variety. Females do not have a tendency to respond to that kind of thing overnight. Give it another decade, Duck! They'll come around in larger numbers by then. Smiley Wink Grin

Well, I think females are squeamish by nature. they probably don't have the same flare for Caribbean despotism and pirate's colony as the men do.It's sometimes good to get away from girls for a while.

Hmmm. Georgie, is your birthday pre-1993? Just curious. It is true that females have different attitudes about such things as despotism and pirate colonies. Not ALL of them are squeamish about such things so much as indifferent to them. I must disagree about your assessment that females are squeamish by nature. There will come a time in your life when you meet the kind of female that destroys that stereotype. I DO agree that there are times when getting away from females for a while can be a good thing. I would also like to point out that females believe that getting away from males for a while is also a good thing. This goes to show that if its all good, why fight it? Cheesy Cheesy Grin Grin

C'mon, CD. You know as well as I that there are times when you don't want to be surrounded by girls. You also know that there are times when you don't want to be surrounded by guys. Still at other times, you don't want to be bothered by anyone. It's life. All these attitudes depend on mood and what yer doin' at the time. Think about it. It IS all good... Grin

Well, CD, give it time. I've no doubt that when you run into the girl that figures out how to micro-manage you, your observations will change. (Do not fool yourself into denying that such females exist - as soon as you find one all of your denials will evaporate like so much 'wish I'dve saids...') Oddly, it does not matter whether you are male or female in this particular assessment. Males that have this talent can also be found.

Your views will never change over anything I say - they will change due to personal experiences that you have yet to face. Even if it takes you into your 40s, 50s, 60s or 70s, you will face it one day. It is inevitable. In the mean time, I can only agree to disagree with you and close with, " Good luck wit' dat."

I get BOMBED for dinner time and tea
I dress in rags, smell alot but I have a real good time

Loose more than I win....

My wife, not an avid gamer, had some time to kill in the hotel room this weekend while I went out with one of the kids.  I come in to find her playing Tropico which was left in the cd drive.  I gave her some pointers and she seemed to really enjoy it.  The only other games that she really got into were Heroes of Might and Magic (I & II) and SimCity but that was before kids came along.  If you take out any of the web based bejewled, alchemey and card games, her total game time in hours per year can be averaged down to under 10.

The last vacation I saw a girl playing Sims2 which I tried and couldn't stand.

Why do games like Tropico intruige the males so much more?

Hello chamilto0516. Welcome and well met! It has been my experience that women are just not motivated in the same way that guys are. They face life with a melody that is parallel to how a man does it without neccessarily traveling on the same track, so to speak.

Where gadgets are concerned, how they approach one may include consideration of outside factors that men just don't think about. Males are physical creatures, drawn to conflict and depictions of conflict in all of its sordid fascination because we have been that way since the dawn of time. Women are the factor within humanity that prevent men from destroying all of it just so that we can see what it's like.

Women are the "Oh, no you don'ts!" that arrest our destructive qualities from the time we can comprehend our self-awareness.(gotta love mom!) Is it any wonder that they don't have a tendency to get into video games which more often than not appeal to the destructive qualities that their (to this point - mostly) male creators put into them? Of course not. My view is that if any female finds interest in a video game then let her go without too many questions.

Somewhere inside that lovely head there is some serious venting going on. Perhaps it might be best to not awaken aspects of it. If one questions too closely, those aspects might pop out like an Alien and literally leave you in the standard, confused state that women so desire to share with the men that they know and love.

If you find yourself interested in increasing your lady's video game play (remembering NOT to question it too closely as the wise course if you do), you may try getting a playstation 2 and purchasing Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2.

These two games tell a violent tale that involves a passionate love story that is highly addictive. To finish both games requires some 150-300 hours of play to complete with 100% satisfaction. Make sure you get the books or you may find yourself the target of her massive frustration over finishing some of the great number of tasks that are featured in the two games.

FF X is a romp with spectacular graphics for its type. Its play is pretty standard. Some of the tasks in FF X-2 are easily missed and can prevent end movie sequences if they are skipped or played the wrong way. To see it all, a book will let you step-by-step through it in a fashion that allows all of the sequences at the end. Naturally, all of the information can be found on the internet in text form but if you prefer pictures, the book is the way to go.

You WILL have to access the internet to solve the defeat of several of the side monsters in BOTH of these games regardless of whether you have a book or not unless you wish to add a hundred hours or so in trial and error combat to your experience. Fortunately, the storyline does not require these monsters (most anyway) to be defeated for the story to progress or finish. If you run into something that kills your 90th level + characters in the first 10 seconds, it's a good bet that you're looking at one of those nasty side critters. Make sure you save before you fight anything big.

The end of X will leave anyone who has any kind of tenderness within them in tears. The end of X-2 will tie up the uncertain end of X and leave the same type of person sighing in blissful contentment. I know of no other RPG console game as complicated that can command the attention of both males AND females. Even Heroes of Might and Magic pales in comparison.

Perhaps this helps a bit. I look forward to viewing further posts from you. C-Ya! Smiley Wink Cheesy Grin
