P.S.
Does anyone know why I can't highlight text while posting a reply? It means that if I want to trim down a long post like ES's to a small quote, I have to sit with my finger on the 'delete' button for two minutes, rather than just highlighting everything I don't want and deleteing it (and it's bloody anoying if I accidently delete the part I want to quote).

It's one of a number of gliches I seem to have at the cafe and nowhere else on the internet, for example, I can also not see the 'wink' 'grin' 'cool' 'huh' or 'cry' smilies, just a box with the word writen in.

I take it that you mean that when you click on the icon for reply with a quote, that you don't have the normal functions in the reply box in the reply window that opens.

I really don't know what might be wrong, except it may be on your machine. That of course sounds silly when you say this is the only site where it happens.

Could it possibly be something to do with the program you run for security from virsus, etc.? Perhaps some one of the settings on it doesn't allow complete loading of the site's program. It does tend to be an intrusive site - at least my security program tells me all the time that it locking out something.

 Huh Huh

Perhaps some of the more technical folks can help.

There shouldnt be anything unusual, as long as you have Java enabled properly, and this site isnt in your Restricted Zone.

It happens whenever I'm replying, not just when I have quote inserted. I mentioned that specificly because that's when it's most anoying. Basicly, in my reply box, I can never 'drag' my mouse across text to highlight it.

When I attempt to enter the forum from the cafe tropico main page I get an message saying 'You are not authorized to few this page. You might not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials you supplied.

If you believe you should be able to view this directory or page, please try to contact the Web site by using any e-mail address or phone number that may be listed on the dynamic3.gamespy.com home page.

You can click  Search to look for information on the Internet.

Internet Explorer  '

If that sheds any light on the subject. The only way I can get the the cafe is by linking straight to the forum main page from 'my favourates' (the link was very kindly provided for me by BlueBones on MSN messanger)

Huh

Anyway, it isn't a massive problem, it just can be a bit anoying ocasioanly.

Thanks for moving this to a better place, btw CK Smiley

And what page would that be? Are you using http://www.strategyplanet.com/tropico/ and then clicking the Forum link on the left?

Since anyone can enter the forum - that is to say, there is no "screening for password type stuff" so far as I know, it sounds very much like something on your machine - likely a security item - is set to alarm/prohibit loading sites which have requirements for certain kinds of interactive programs - perhaps such as some versions of JAVA. So the message is internal to your machine rather than coming from the site. Of course, that is rather like Microsoft stuff - any old message will do. Perhaps you recently upgraded Windows with the latest security packs?

It's hard to describe when you don't know all the technical terms and are operating on mostly feelings rather than direct knowledge.
