Yes but I would like to see what people on Cafe Tropico have to say about it. Anyway reviews for games are not always great.

Terrific sea mode. Where you lauch to sea and sail between ports. Extremely "salty air feel" and great atmospheric and water and land modelling. Cannon fire is simulated like launching slow moving cannon balls and chain and grape. Not  realistic bullistics but actually fun and no con.

Some real cons though do exist in SMP unfortunately. Mainly the shallow depth do to no city building. Also your pirates when marching on land to hunt treasure or do raids on towns is pretty bland.

I have not checked the mod scene lately but last time i played the game months ago it was clear the game is tough to mod. All that was available were some "trainers" that altered several features in computer memory i guess.

Oh one other serious drag is only ONE SHIP in your fleet can fight at a time. The rest are cued up and enter the edge of the battle screen as needed if you loose ships.

There's another pirate game out recently. I forget the name. A budgit title. Looked interesting but the budgit factor probably cans it. Anyhow it had as the main feature FLEET TO FLEET combat between navies. Simulated similar to SMP with little ships on the map sailing around. Only the map scale was realistic.

Your best bet at the moment is getting Pirates of The Carribean if you have not already. It's a real simulator. Light on game depth but then again the game is extreme,y mod friendly and loads of mods exist out there including at least on huge combined mod thats easy to install.

Tropico 2 looks fun. I've been busy and actually had not had time to go beyond even 10 years yet in any scenario. It took awhile to fine tune but i think i've balanced out a better script now. I'll post it when i've tested it more. It takes awhile to figure out how to avoid problems with pirates using shore facilities out of balance with the game dynamics. My last script i set their rank advancements to slow. The need to gain rank and use higher level shore buildings. Like everything i find it best just to adjust within 20% - 33% up or down on any feature.

Oh ok, one more question. Does it have the "3D" look?

Oh and Tropico 2 is a good game, not as good as Tropico, but it is good.

Well, yes. Yes it does.

It's brilliant, though.

I hope it is, the only game I have accepted the "3D" look on was The Sims 2. I hear this is an excellent game though..... Grin
