Hey, I have been there.
I have RTII Platinum and find it enjoyable -- but frustrating. I live in the midst of an area that most fans of steam rail history drool over. I try to build some of the old lines that ran just a few miles from my house and I am frustrated.
I own RTII Platinum as well.
Yes, it can be frustrating at times, unless you make your own map with the scenario editor and set up your area to the "correct" scale vs. the scale offered on many of the maps already available in the game. This can take a lot of time (and patience
) and as I've found out, most of the time it doesn't turn out the way you'd want the map to look and feel like.
As for the music, I heard that PopTop threw in a lot more music into the Platinum version than into the original (or even the Second Century expansion).
The music is great. I would be happy to play Tropico to it if "Weeds" would tell me how.
That may be possible. I wouldn't know how, but "Weeds" probably will. He made the utility that made it possible for me to listen to the Tropico music while you're not in Tropico (which must've taken some knowledge!)
I have to admit that I am a "Trainz" simulator fan. Just as soon as I get a PC that will handle a late version of it, I may give up basking on a tropical beach.
I bought "Trainz: Driver Edition" last year.....it was an US-only release on the $10 rack. I couldn't pass up a bargain, but it was pretty interesting, though the PC I had at the time was rather slow and couldn't handle much in terms of processor "hogging"
. The PC I have now runs it better, but the game itself feels like a "demo" of the "Trainz Railroad Simulator 2006" game instead of a real standalone game.
Maybe I'll have to buy the real simulator to get the full feel of the game!
