GeneRally Freeware Racing Game

Dunno if any of y'all have ever heard of "GeneRally" before? It's a totally freeware racing game that has almost a cult following <G>. I've been hooked on this game ever since December 2002, and it's really a top-notch game for being freeware (as well as it's extremely small initial download size). The game will run on almost any PC (with DirectX v8.0 or higher installed), and had quite minimum system requirements -:)

Anyhow, here's a random player's quote about the game:

"GeneRally... It's got yer damage modeling, yer pitstops, yer racing season, yer ghost car, yer nice AI, and yer track editor. It's one megabyte, it's fun, it's free... so go get it!" - RRevved

AFAIK unfortunately there's no plans for a Mac version.

Oh man! That sure brings back fond memories -:) I still have my original 3-1/2" floppy and manual for the game -:)

Thanks for the Pics! That was about the best you could get, in those days.

I use to cause big accidents in the front, by giving a subtel touch in a car close to mine. From my mirror, I would watch it crashing with other cars. The best part would come in the next lap, trying to pass unhurt through all those totalled cars.

GeneRally also supports grayscale terrain heightmap images, which (with a bit of editing) can also be used with Tropico -:)

Hehe, it amazes me how realistic the driving physics feel in this game, even though it's a top-down arcadish kind of thing <G>.
