What the heck - everyone has dreams.

  • Paths and Roads: Routes that are used frequently turn into paths, and well-trodden paths turn into gravelly roads. Paving still costs and is the only real modification of speed.
  • Transport Possibilities: Goods may be transported using donkey carts! Each "Upgraded" Teamster is equipped at all times with a donkey cart; unattended donkeys finish trip and return to Teamster Offices (donkeys never die; loads never lost). No other fantasy methods on small Tropico island please.
  • Saboteurs: Any employed worker whose happiness drops below a "standard/trip" point starts "destroying" output.
  • Animals: More animals (besides birds) wander about and mess with production. The chimps may be environmentalists in disguise.
  • Immigant & Emmigant travel: All may use the usual ships, but only the college educated may both arrive and leave by airplane, in fact they prefer it and will use only air travel if it is available. Perhaps the college educated will voluntarily arrive only by air. That is, only paid college educated recruits will arrive by ship.

Not really simple for the programmers, but simple for players.

Hey! I can live with that if the Teamsters may be upgraded only if there is at least one Ranch raising Cattle.

Self-sufficiency - no imported bullocks.

Well-trdden routes already turn into paths, but it takes a alot of trampling. Maybe just speed up that process.

If you want the carts to continue without the teamster, you would need a second unit-object to continue the delivery if the teamster runs off to home or the pub or switches jobs mid-route. It might be nasty to coordinate a second unit like that. Otherwise that doesnt sound like a bad idea... It might be interesting to see what the donkey decides to do if the teamster isnt there to guide it.

As your comment points out, any "fantasy" idea takes a great deal of refinement involving discussion between the "lightbulb holder" and the "power source" before it can work.

To cut it shorter, I would be happy with the simple substitution of a more capacious mule with pack or ox with cart for the handtruck (upon an upgrade) - both of which would use "Eddie's Portable Hole." However, when a Teamster dies with a loaded ox cart (but not the handtruck), the load will not be lost in the portable hole.

The concept is the faithful ox/donkey just plods on to the routine destination - like the milkman's horse of history.

I do not suggest this type of correction for the Dock Workers. The death of Dock Workers which cause the loss of their loads should be counted as the result of crime.

Thanks for your comment.

Maybe golf carts too, Sim Golf has proventhat there can be 500 people easily going around in golf carts. Tongue
also I think that building should be able to "upgrade" themselves depending on profit levels, electricity, and such.

For example, a apartment filled with the college educated can uprade itself, so I would look better, have a higher quality and like. presidente can also upgrade manually, for a price and conscruction time!

Maybe people should be able to temporarily leave the island for education and the like.

Hell, even maybe we could have this!

NATIONS OF EDUCATION

US-makes a capitalist of a tropican
RUSSIA-makes a communist out of a man.
EUROPE-Makes a envirormentalist of of one.
Latin America-No change

TYPES OF SCHOOL
regular-extra intullectual bonus
congerational school-add religious for a lesser national effect
Military-like congeagtional, but with military

all schools give a pop to the intullectual faction an possibly to a stat. Any forigen educated Tropican will have half experience for a job of the education. So a Tropican with a + in int. may go to West Point and become +++int. ++cap. +++mil. and half an experiene bar for general!
all school

. Job change could occur only when the Teamster arrives at home for rest.

I dunno.... How often do they rest now? Suppose a college educated teamster walks by a brand new bank... shouldnt he be able to switch jobs at that point? He shouldnt have to wait several years until he get tired enough to rest.

Of course job-switching in the middle of a load shouldnt be allowed. The teamster should have to finish his current task before switching jobs... kind of like the fishermen who switch jobs mid-trip, change clothes, and walk across the water to their new job.

By what date did golf carts become common? They sure were not common in 1950. The rest of your suggestions don't really seem "simple."

Now that I understand Brf's comment better, I see that the donkey or ox cart continuing on with the load to a destination would require creation of a temporary unit. That's a big coding project.

Perhaps it is too big a project.

I have come to see the main problem is one of the distinct difference in the level of "suspension of disbelief" required between the hand truck which pops out of and into a "portable hole," and a pack donkey which might have the same problem of appearance and disappearance. Players find it difficult to "suspend disbelief" in the handtruck visual. I think the teamster with donkey visual would be easier to accept -- but its size is a problem. Perhaps the two figures could be side by side instead of the teamster leading the donkey - which would make turning corners possible to render. The appearance and disappearance of the donkey would be simplified and perhaps an easier "suspension of disbelief." When the teamster picks up his trip ticket at his office and leaves the building enroute to a pickup, the donkey is with him. At the pickup, the load appears on the donkey, and the pair continue to the dropoff. At the dropoff building, the load appears at the designated point and the donkey simply disappears. The best I could do keeping it simple. The teamster recycles to his office for another trip ticket (and donkey) or changes to a non-work life phase. The donkey is with him only when he is active with a trip ticket.

By the way, the appearance of dirt paths based on many people walking in the same place is probably the effect of their radiated pollution on the soil quality. It may be possible to see the lines with one of the overlays.
