Wow. Thanx for the input guys!

I disagree with point two. It almost sounds like your teacher is trying to brainwash those who are middle-of-the-road & conservative into leaning more left in their beliefs. I think the Republican Party is crashing because they are getting TOO liberal in their views. The GOP has made it very clear the last decade that they don't want people like me in their party, which is why I no longer consider myself a Republican. The GOP has done this to themselves by distancing their party from the very foundations on which America, and the GOP, were founded on. I should thank them though, as they forced me to look around at what my political ideals really were, which introduced me to Libertarianism. When people find out I have a Conservative-slanted view of things, I'm automatically called a Republican; to which I am forced to correct them by saying, "No, I'm a Libertarian who supports what my country was founded on."
Okay, so it isn't just me or my grandpa. My whole family is Republican but my grandpa and I are probably the most interested in politics and what is going on. We noticed especially in the last election that McCain (and other Republicans) was a little to liberal for us, and now to hear that his now Republican daughter is going around saying that the Republicans should support gay marriage in order to win seats...this is bull s***. This is just one example, I strongly think that the GOP has to go back to its foundation and take a look at its old platform!
We also "learned" about rascists/neo-nazis/anti-semetic people in government today. At the end of the movie, we had to hear how one of the leaders of these fanatical groups is gaining support politically through the Republican party in Florida...I found this as a way for the teacher to pretty much tell us how bad the party is...

BTW i reached "general" state

Congrats Meck, lol...
I still didn't understand your political system.
What i see is that whether Republicans or Democrats are on power there will never be a mentionable variation.
(as well as in Germany! and we got more than 2 parties!!)
I'm not too sure if I get your misunderstanding, but I will try and tell you the best I can...for me being tired that is...

In the USA we have a two party system, as you mentioned. Pretty much to make this short, the Republicans are the conservatives (pro-life, against gay marriage, other ethics/morals, low business regulation, smaller government, not as concerned with global warming, pro-military, support the Second Amendment which allows us to have guns, against universal healthcare, against assisted suicide, believes in finishing the job in the middle east, tight border controls and deportation of illegal immigrants, low taxes, and many more). These are just some of the recent issues in the past election. Now the Democrats, or liberals, pretty much are opposite of everything I just listed...The reason many nations probably never see as "mentionable difference" is because our government was designed to make laws hard to pass in the federal government. A majority of the time, a party will not dominate both houses of congress and the presidency...if this were to happen (which we are extremely close to

) then that party pretty much gets everything they want and their agenda passed. Otherwise, the two parties pretty much just battle and bicker at each other and don't get a lot of things passed....
