What do you guys think? Should we keep going with T1 until the September release?

I know that the LOT probably will shift to T3 at some point.

Frankly, the community is so closely tight night we don't even  the UTN as a formal organization.

I would also see to it that more islands are run, every person capable of running an island should, and we should just a 5 year plan style system; el presidente's "term" is 5 in game years, after which the save game is presented, the presidente either reelected or deoposed and a new agenda for the next five years set out. Ministers can of course advise in between, but official policy is the 5 year plan.

Beyond that, We really need to look at the editor to see what we can do.

I was distracted and did NOT come promptly to answer - sorry.

Your comments are always welcome C.K. as it's nice to see new faces in here besides the usual ...

I'm going to have to disagree with C.K. on the illegal immigration part though. It is a lot more complicated than it appears on the surface if you ask me. By throwing around xenophobe, you do a great disservice to you[r] points and opinion; I dislike logical fallacies and Ad Hominems chaff me the most. ...

Perhaps xenophobe is somewhat strong. But let me suggest that perhaps since you live near Richmond, VA, you may not be as familiar with the attitudes about Mexicans that obtain in the SW U.S. as I am. BTW, I lived in Northern Va. (Annandale) when I worked in D.C. for three + years, and I also was assigned to Ft. Lee for training when I was in the army. My experience is dated, but the area is not unknow to me.

Here in Colorado, I live in an agricultural area which is also nearby to some top-ranked ski resorts. I can assure you that the illegal immigants do not depress the wages paid for the seasonal work. While there is some requirement for skilled work in the orchards and vineyards outside the harvest season, most of the argricultural work is concentrated during the harvest campaign. It is heavy work over long hours and requires good physical endurance. The resort area seasonal work is lighter, but it requires odd shifts -- kitchen help, wait persons, room cleaning, and other service occupations.

It is clearly evident that the unemployed citizens of the U.S. (especially those east of the Mississippi) do not do as the unemployed Mexicans do. Americans will not pack their back-packs, buy a bus ticket, and go where the seasonal work is -- live frugally and send home money to support their families. Some of the Mexicans don't cope legally with the border.

Space here is limited. I have to finish this post by saying that the "English Only" movement is a sign of something similar to xenophobia at least.

So you say:
illegal immigrants    OUT
legal immigrants     WELCOME
 ?? ??
So why you make it more and more difficult to gain the citizenship?
Otherwise many illegal immigrants whould be legaly there, get less problems and probably whould be assimilated by the american "way of life" and don't have to work in fear and cruel conditions.

You miss one key point, I think. All the moves are not to make gaining citizenship more difficult -- most of them are simply to make gaining entry (crossing the border legally) more difficult.

For Europeans, I think one thing needs to be made clear: the U.S. retains many remnants of a true Federal Union. There is no "National Identity" document other than the "Passport" for international travel -- and it must be applied for, i.e. it is not automatically issued to all citizens. Identity documents remain under the exclusive control of the States. At the same time, internal migration is totally uncontrolled (except for freed sex offenders). Meanwhile birth and death certificates are also state matters and some semblance of order has come about only since the national Social Security law. Still most ordinary citizens are bewildered about their birth certificate because if one was issued, it was given to their parents.

With that background, perhaps it easier to understand why once someone crosses the border - even legally - it becomes almost impossible for the government to keep track of them. How do you sort the fish in your pound, eh?

Then go on to examine the crazy, patchwork quilt of national origin quotas, special skills, donations to the government, lottery, and other methods of gaining legal entry directly leading to citizenship. Then there are the ways to be a permitted legal resident alien, such as your employer certifying that he can't find a citizen of the U.S. who has your unique skills which are absolutely essential to his business.

Now layer on to all that a bureaucracy which has the tradition of insuring that every immigant is at least 110% Americanized from the start, and human feeling is prohibited by the regulations.

You will be able to see that the heap of hypocrisy dwarfs the Statue of Liberty.

... But those who are staying here illegally are just putting a strain on the nation, economically/crime wise/ect.

The Urban Legend of the centuries.

From the very start, the Africans were fit only to be chattel slaves since they were less human than us. But they were a legal import.

The Germans in Pennsylvania scared Benjamin Franklin because they didn't rush to adopt English and wanted books in German which threatened his printing business.

When the Irish came they were drunken papists who bred crime and corruption.

The Scandinavians had the decency to be blonde and blue eyed, but they had crazy ideas about religion, honesty and the prairie land out west.

When the Italians came they were lazy latins who were shifty and took jobs from honest citizens. Besides they bred crime and corruption.

The Orientals just never could learn how to be Americans. So we had to be exclusive.

Tell me again, please, who is here illegally. Who issued the first entry permit? Just a bit of humbleness could make the medicine go down easier.

That's an excellent idea.

But if I may suggest, wouldn't it be better to start a new topic/thread?

Perhaps, League of Tropico v3 ??

I recently talked to CafeDave about getting separate boards for Tropico and Enrosia, but now it looks like we'll need that for the T3 boards, to be organized and orderly from the start.
