Yes, believe it or not, Cafe Tropico will be five years old on October 14. (So I'm a day early, but just couldn't wait.) To celebrate, I have created a new anniversary logo, which you can see at the top of every page. It still needs a bit of work to look good when shrunk, but will do for now. To recognize this historic event, I have also done a major update to the Cafe Tropico Souvenir Shop. You can now purchase a huge variety of merchandise including apparel, household items and other fun stuff with one of many new graphic designs including the new anniversary logo in a much bigger size. Be sure to check it out at http://www.strategyplanet.com/tropico/cafe4.shtmlAnd in celebration of Cafe Tropico's fifth anniversary, all proceeds from the shop until the end of the year will be donated to help victims of hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Finally, here are some links to the archives for some old memories: Welcome! (The very first post, or close to it.) Happy Birthday Cafe Tropico!Congrats!Cafe Pics See them here. Tropico Survivor And of course, the tarantulas: Tarantulas??? (The post that started it all.) A BIG Happy Birthday to the Cafe! -:)
I didn't even realize when the Cafe was founded, looks like I initially joined shortly thereafter -:)
Hehe, as far as tarantulas, I DO believe that reporter Ricardo Nagel DID prove their existance in one of his articles in El Tropico Herald <LOL>!! -:)

Five years? No way man, there wasn't an Internet back then!
*Jumps past the "o' course, back in them days it were called ARPANET" chapter and proceeds directly to "that's nuthin, in the days of gen-u-wyne heavy iron there weren't no fancy keypunch machines nor interpreters and compilers; we hadda enter assembly code one byte at a time by manually flipping bit-switches".*

Happy Birthday TropicoHey! Look! I startled myself and learned how to make things bigger! It's amazing when you use the "Tropico Chimp" method of trial and error button pushing to come up with new posting techniques! T2 is the first forum that I have been on where I've felt comfortable enough to go outside of game stuff and actually discuss and debate a variety of topics. I learned about internet "prickly pears" and discovered that forum folks can get testy over a wide range of things! It is like meeting a whole new circle of friends! Few of you may understand what a boost to my introverted morale this is, but suffice it to say that T2 and it's cornucopia of personalities has certainly helped me to get through some writer's block and "tired life syndrome". Thank-you, Tropico! May you live long and prosper far beyond your current level!!

...and PS...I've been meaning to compliment R0bb0 on his photo of "a wrecked Tiger Tank in Tunisia". That is probably one of the most interesting images of the aftermath of battle ever taken. I first saw the photo in the early 70s and it has always been one that made me "stop n look". Kudos to you for attaching it! Perhaps you and I might discuss the war in another post...

It's better to just take a walk, especially before the mod. shows up.

Dont reply to the spammers, Georgie. Your post will look silly once the moderaters delete that post, like they did the previous ones last week...
