GameGO!
From TNL Wiki
GameGO! was the brainchild of Eric C. Mylonas and Thomas Keller (Better known as ECM and Haohmaru) and staffed by former GameFan editors. Their goal was not to just follow in the footsteps of the defunct GameFan magazine, but to focus even more on the "hardcore gamer" fanbase.
GameGO! featured cover and internal art by acclaimed comic book artist Patrick "Spaz!" Spaziante.
Only one issue was ever published. It was distributed sometime in the year 2001, available at EB Games and various specialty stores in the US, and was mailed to paid subscribers. A second issue was completed, but there was not enough funding available to go ahead with printing. It was eventually distributed online for free in .pdf format and is still available for download from fileplanet.com.
Message Board Migration
While the magazine may have floundered, GameGO!'s message board prospered. Before the magazine's launched, ECM spammed several message boards such as GameFAQs, Shmups, and neo-geo.com in order to drum up interest in his pet project. This eventually lead to the creation of one of the most diverse video game message boards on the internet. Most notably, it was a hotbed of hardcore and F-Chan activity. Eventually the forum would implode in upon itself, never to see the light of day again, but in the aftermath of this disaster one of the board's users named Bahn let out a clarion call: "you guys can come here if you want". Thus the great GameGO! Migration began.
This is one of the key difining moments in TNL's history, because before this, TNL's forums were devoid of any activity, and this event planted the seed which created the TNL we all know and love today.
