New soundcard is in! Even better, I was able to install it and have it operational without any aggravation at all. Put in, power on, download drivers, reboot, done. I was bracing for a struggle in light of the fact that compatibility with Windows 7 seems to be a major nagging point with sound cards now. Sometimes I feel like the Benjamin Button of gaming. I have this compulsion to play a game series in sequential order that keeps me from, say, playing Dynasty Warriors Next on the Vita without playing every musou game ever made first.

I have some returns resolved and will undertake the actual filing procedures tonight, after this. The cat has a routine established with me where he wants me to use a cat wand to play with him. He'll bring the wand over and drop it by me and squeak at me (he doesn't have a very loud voice). If I don't respond, he'll keep going and going and eventually start poking at me with his claws through the chair I'm sitting at now. When I have heard enough and go play, he'll chase the toy down and eventually get it, at which point he'll return to my empty chair and drop the toy for me to move it again, ...

I'm still not 100% satisfied with the sync I have with LB. I've just tried out several of the video options and I am not very happy with how the audio matches with the visual response. The experience is very different when the game is in HD mode or not, too - something about it makes it display very differently in terms of color vibrancy and refresh, the former of which at least I wouldn't have expected with the change.

The wife's coworker's machine had 512MB of RAM inside the box, using two of four slots. DDR3200 chips are antiquated enough to keep me from buying some off of the shelf at a store, for $35 per 1GB chip. Not terrible, but I'm betting that she doesn't have $70 on the ready so I'll be expecting to take the payment in weekly installments.

Between working on that and some tax research, I have another late start here, so let's get going already.

Managed to not have to work in rain for most of the day. I also get to look into sprucing up a computer being used by one of my wife's coworkers. I've seen the machine before and it was typical low end emachine junk, but she didn't do anything beyond normal Internet use so I wouldn't think that to be a big deal. She informs my wife today that her PC has "run out of virtual memory". What a catastrophe. I hope the nearby CompUSA has RAM which is ancient enough for her machine to use. Yesterday ...

A rapid downpour came and went, and I had the luxury of watching it happen from under my roof. Hopefully my luck will continue through the weekend.

I never had an entry for Voltage in Extra Mode before. I wonder why. The program also didn't load Starmine yesterday, so I might as well get that out of the way.

I had to take the time to develop a new Form for my Individual filing procedures, which thankfully I have just finished and didn't take me as long as I was predicting. I cannot rest on laurels, though, and I have to keep moving between a few returns to do before things get too late. Neither should take tremendous amounts of time but this is nothing to dawdle about.
