PepsimanVsJoe talks about random games.

If I absolutely must talk about a videogame you'll see it in here.

  1. Dark Souls is killing my free time.

That's all I gotta say. Too busy playing to write a billion words about it.

  2. Blah blah time to talk about Tactics Ogre blah blah

by , 27 Feb 2012 at 03:15 PM (PepsimanVsJoe talks about random games.)
I enjoyed Final Fantasy Tactics, saw this game was cheap as heck, and decided to give it a go. So here's my thoughts after a playthrough...

Despite its most recent revision being on the PSP, Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together still very much feels like a precursor to Final Fantasy Tactics. It comes off as a more focused game in some ways due to the extraneous classes and customization not being as much of a factor. You can't really expect to go in to this game with a Calculator wrecking ...

  3. Found this Soulblazer write-up doing nothing in my HDD, may as well post it...

by , 20 Feb 2012 at 01:24 AM (PepsimanVsJoe talks about random games.)
Here we have the definition of the “in-offensive” videogame. Soul blazer is a short, sweet, and generally pleasant game that focuses on raising questions about life as well as the after-life rather than challenging the player. Underneath the rather silly translation –people are defeated instead of killed, as if this were some kind of duel – is a thought-provoking experience coupled with one of the better soundtracks in an SNES game.

In what could be considered a spin-off of Actraiser, ...

  4. FloE's misadventures in Bullcrap I-hate-you platformers

by , 06 Feb 2012 at 02:32 AM (PepsimanVsJoe talks about random games.)
What's the most entertaining stream on the internet right now?
    This one: http://www.twitch.tv/eg_floe

If you follow the fighting game tourney scene you know FLOe. For whatever insane reason he's been streaming games like "I wanna be the guy", "I wanna be the boshy", and all those other incredibly unfair platformers. Lots of failure, tons of cussing, and all that other good stuff is expected.

Pretty sure everyone who is everyone is already ...

  5. I have to talk about Risen

by , 31 Jan 2012 at 09:40 AM (PepsimanVsJoe talks about random games.)
Risen is the spiritual sequel to the Gothic series and you all know what that entails. In this grand adventure our hero washes up on an island without so much as a pair of shoes. The quest to get pair of shoes takes close to five hours by itself. Also this game starts off brutally, as casual run-ins with warthogs may as well be final boss affairs in any other RPG. Still, provided you rub the right backs, dip into enough dungeons, and occasionally cheat the glitchy weed-dealer, you'll be an unstoppable ...

  6. Looks like I must say a few things about Two Worlds 2

by , 23 Jan 2012 at 03:41 PM (PepsimanVsJoe talks about random games.)
The first Two Worlds game may have been one of the worst and/or most broken games to hit the Xbox 360. It's one thing to be incompetent when it comes to designing and programming a game but Two Worlds was absolutely hilarious in its ineptitude. In a world where all horses are retarded and there are only three women, one man who has uncomfortable thoughts about his sister can make a difference. Somehow after enough wandering around I stumbled upon the final dungeon and completed the game. Heck I ...

  7. Plans...yes I actually have plans for this blog

by , 21 Jan 2012 at 03:27 AM (PepsimanVsJoe talks about random games.)
While currently my blog is lucky to see one update a month I think I'm going to do some bigger things with it in the coming months.

This March is going to be Megaman's Mega March Monster Madness or MMMMM. I attempted this a couple years back but only got to Megaman 7 before nearly losing my mind. This time around I'm going to be doing the X series, though I expect I won't live to see past MMX6. In any case I'll try to look at as many of them as I can, maybe do MM8 and 9 if I have ...

  9. Do I really want to go through with this "Game of the year" nonsense?

by , 28 Dec 2011 at 03:54 PM (PepsimanVsJoe talks about random games.)
It's the end of the year and like everyone else who has said something about a videogame, I have to start thinking about picking favorites. Honestly I never saw the appeal, mostly because there just isn't enough time for me to play the games that I think are deserving of such regard. Also if I were to choose right now I'd come up with absolutely nothing. Unlike last year I don't have a handful of titles that I really connected with and felt that they were truly special.

    For reference ...

  10. It's necessary that I speak on Fist of the North Star: Ken's Rage

by , 22 Dec 2011 at 10:25 PM (PepsimanVsJoe talks about random games.)
As you all know I'm a quite the fan of Musou games. As you all don't know I'm also a big fan of Fist of the North Star. So when Omega Force decided to take on this property I figured I'd be in for a good time.

    ...Oops?

Ken's Rage is pretty typical of the Musou genre. You choose from a handful of characters and then face off with hundreds of nameless thugs and their leaders in various scenarios. Some follow the original storyline while others delve into what-ifs and ...

  11. I guess I could talk about Torchlight for a bit.

by , 29 Nov 2011 at 01:33 AM (PepsimanVsJoe talks about random games.)
While I could (and should) be writing a review for Saints Row 3 I'm going to break away for just a bit. I realized that I put a couple dozen hours and gotten all of the achievements in Torchlight on XBLA, I may as well have something to say about it. One of the things I enjoy about this blog is that I'm not restricted by things such as word counts, my writing style, making sense, and all that other unimportant junk. I'm free to make that critical analysis and say something significant. Is that actually ...

  12. For some reason I felt compelled to write about Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days

by , 19 Oct 2011 at 03:00 AM (PepsimanVsJoe talks about random games.)
Youtube-quality graphics, one-dimensional game-design, and what the heck I actually played through this game? I'm sitting on a stack of games that include the likes of Deus Ex: Human Revolution, the ICO/SOTC set, and a bunch of other games that are supposedly really good. I barely played any of them though, for reasons I'll try to detail in this write-up I spent some quality time with a couple of losers and their quest to create the biggest pile of corpses.

    I didn't play the original ...

  13. Dante's Inferno? I can talk about that.

by , 03 Sep 2011 at 02:20 AM (PepsimanVsJoe talks about random games.)
When I sit down and think of all the videogames I have played through I also think about the sum total of sense they have made, which if my math is correct, totals out to somewhere over negative 17 billion and a tenth. Dante's Inferno is just another notch in the bedpost, another penny in the pot, another thing in a larger thing that is the absolute ridiculousness of videogames.

First off there is the intro. During the Crusades Dante gets killed. Apparently if you're not ready to ...

  14. Figured I'd say a few words about Mindjack

by , 22 Aug 2011 at 01:38 PM (PepsimanVsJoe talks about random games.)
In the far future man has developed a means of mind-control. Instead of merely being able to force someone to bring them a drink of water, this technology has gotten to the point where the most everyday of citizens will pull a gun out of their rear-end and engage in battle if somebody gets the bright idea to invade their skull. Also we can expect to see cyborg-primates, giant robots, and a multitude of other oddities.

    Mindjack is a third-person quasi-competitive shooter. What's the ...
