• Planescape: Torment, Extras, for $9.99, No DRM

        Stop making excuses, start adventuring

Planescape: Torment is one of the few PC games that was well-regarded in its time and continues to be highly sought after. There are quite a number of people in our community, myself included, who love the deep, immersive story and the sheer freedom of choice in the actions and stats of the main character. But the game has not been easy to obtain legally, and even when acquired, presents technical hurdles to overcome before it can be enjoyed.

Now, Black Isle's unique classic is available at GOG.com for about ten dollars, in a package that includes the soundtrack, the Planescape: Torment novelization by Chris Avellone and Colin McComb (who worked on the game), over one hundred pieces of artwork, and wallpapers and avatars as the cherry on top. The game is free of digital rights management and compatible with Windows 7, Vista, and XP.

If you love your role playing games with choice, personality, and bit of a darker edge, you can read more about the deal on GOG's Planescape: Torment site. If you aren't sure, read up on the game in our forums.

Sounds like a pretty great deal to me. Thanks for letting me know of this.

I want to play this but I'm afraid it's going to be impossible like Icewind Dale.

Or rather, I'm afraid that it'll be another situation where a party that isn't optimized is not going to succeed, because to me that's now how to make a game difficult, and not being able to make custom classes that I'm interested in because they won't be able to handle the game drives me crazy.

Either that or I'm just really really bad at Icewind Dale...which I doubt.

I have gotten about 3/4 of the way through ID too. I attempt it like every two years.

for reals answer: you need high wisdom or you won't be able to do nearly any of the cool things in the game.

          PS:T's way easier than ID.

I did ID + expansions, and yeah, don't think I've had to reload a game so many times before or since.

Aight I bought it. I love GoG, their mod spotlight was helpful.

So far this is as good as Fallout except it's got RPG combat instead of Tactical combat, which puts it slightly behind Fallout in my book, but it's incredibly excellent so far, and nothing like icewind dale (hooray!)

I can see myself playing this many many times.

The combat isn't what makes Planescape at all. The incredible story/characters/acting(sure there's not a ton of voice acting but what is there is great) are what make it the finest western RPG of all time.

Except the first two fallout games are freaking amazing also.

They're great games, but they aren't as well written as Planescape.
