• Final WWE All Stars Controller Design Revealed

"This is where the power lies!"

Mad Catz has begun shipping out controllers inspired by the upcoming WWE All Stars title. The design featuring The Rock and Triple H was shown some time ago, but the company has now revealed the stars of the second set of peripherals: Hulk Hogan and John Cena.

Though these two wrestlers have never faced each other in the ring, now that they're on the same piece of hardware, you never know what might happen. Unless I'm mistaken, both The Rock and Triple H came back to the WWE right after the first controllers were revealed. Maybe the wrestling world is using video game hardware to spoil upcoming storylines? I guess it's too late for a Sting/Undertaker set.

Anyway, both controllers feature an arcade-style layout with six to eight face buttons, so they're ideal not only for WWE All Stars but for Street Fighter IV, Marvel vs. Capcom 3, and many XBLA titles. The BrawlPad (MSRP: $39.99) boasts big action buttons and an enlarged floating D-pad that can be switched to analog motion. Mad Catz is emphasizing smooth motion and quick, precise response. The BrawlStick (MSRP: $79.99) comes with a ball-top joystick and concave action buttons with independently set dual-speed-turbo and LED indicators for each button. The Start and Select/Back buttons are intelligently placed at the back of the stick so you don't accidentally pause the game while in the middle of a heated versus match, and the joystick can be toggled between analog and digital control for maximum flexibility.

Mad Catz has seen astounding success lately, with a 91% rise in net sales during the most successful quarter in the company's history. It's good to see that financial dominance translate into more specialty items like this. The All Stars controllers are available for pre-order at Amazon with a release date of March 22.

If there was one with just Hogan on it I'd buy it.

I haven't watched wrestling since the early nineties.
Are all of the current 'superstars' just generic roid freaks?

Are you implying that all the old 'superstars' weren't?

They tended to have more interesting personalities/gimmicks.

A lot of the new guys in wrestling are smaller and more athletic, but, yeah, they tend to be as bland as Wonderbread on the microphone.

I can't believe this game has an arcade stick.

At least it doesn't look like it's poking out of The Rock's trunks.

The Rock is back in wrestling. Honestly he's the last good person to have been in the ring.

I still watch it. The show is fine - the perception of it is always what shifts. Not the content. To everything there is a season.
