You're almost definitely familiar with The Lord of the Rings, and you might be acquainted with the upcoming War in the North title: an action-RPG boasting three-player co-op that takes your team on a brutal, intense journey through Tolkien's worlds.
Below is the latest on the collector's edition and pre-order bonuses offered by various retailers.
The Lord of the Rings: War in the North Collector's Edition is priced at $129.99, but it comes with some very stylish bonuses (along with the game, of course). Most prominent are the Ranger of the North quiver case, which you just can't miss in the pictures, and a classy art book. The music is also center stage: the package includes three tracks from the game's soundtrack and a mini documentary with composer Inon Zur at Abbey Road Studios and a E3 2011 performance. You also get avatar goodies on the 360 (a ranger set) or a theme pack on the PS3.
For pre-orders, Toys 'R Us is giving out a signed, limited-edition poster and access to the two-part War in the North digital comic at launch (written by Brain Wood and illustrated by Simon Coleby). Amazon is offering early access to the second part of that comic and an in-game Orc Champion Sword. Target has three exclusive cuts from the soundtrack. Best Buy is offering a Lothlórien Challenge map and an elven set with sword and armor, GameStop has the Osgiliath Challenge map and human set, and Wal-Mart has the dwarven set. So there's something for all members of the Fellowship, music lovers, and comic book fans.
The game is developed by Snowblind and will be released this fall for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
