I heard about this on the radio recently, and remembered to respond to it today:

Carl Sandburg's poem "Chicago" turns 100 this month.

In March 1914, Poetry magazine published the work, and introduced the world to the "City of Big Shoulders". While we may no longer be "hog butcher for the world", Chicago's profile continues to fascinate, divide, welcome and challenge visitors and residents. So what does the city look like to you, 100 years after Sandburg's homage?

Share your poem about Chicago with us; it will be judged by a panel of three local poets. The panel will pick the top 2 entries and we'll invite the winners to share their work on Morning Shift in March.

If I recall to do so, I'll reprint what I wrote here if I fail to be chosen. I hope they don't have a way of figuring out who among the entrants are contributors - if so, I'll be out of luck before the fight begins.

One thing I'm thankful for is that I don't have to go downtown tomorrow after all. A conference call with the three other people who were there last time is set for 2PM tomorrow instead. I don't anticipate the discussion or my participation to be too different from last time.

Now to get to some Form work.

Song session was very good today. I'm quite surprised how many increases I had manage to accrue, with some of them being rather substantial at that. Combine that with the fact that the worst play was the last song at a mere -4%, and this definitely makes for one of the best days in recent memory. After the play I had of Catch Me, I knew I was in for a good ride. Upon analysis of the differentials, it appears that many of the records were much cleaner than previous highs as well. That's rather encouraging.
