I support them, much like the US supported the Taliban in the 80's. Now, I do not condone 2/3 of the shit they do -- a minority of the raids, the daily CP that is part of that life -- but I deal with it for the genuine no-punches-pulled humor and the words inserted into our collective lexicon in trade.
In fact, I can't imagine a world world without them. It's like a boom town in the wild west and Anon is the mafia is running the show! But no matter how much the outside world portray it as such, they'll never reach that level of a threat to society, simply because they can never obtain that amount of organization for an extended time. Look at Project Chanology. In the end, it's nothing more than anarchy in it's purest form that occasionally bands together for noteworthy projects and only then for a limited time.
The second item is that unlike the mob or most IRL terrorist groups, they are able to leave, and do so usually after they leave college. Look at TNL, five years ago we would have laughed their antics off. Today, we denunciate it in preparation for our own roles as protective guardians of the shit youth.
So, why do I feel we need this? Anarchy. Terrorism. Because every society needs a villain. And I'd rather have their collective energy pointed here, then spread out across their own little worlds or bottled up, building up pressure and waiting to exploded. And by all means, I'm not saying the law should not come in an enforce itself when needed! But I hope it never comes down to it's total removal. For it's healthy, it's progress, and I'd rather not be a part of a world without it.
