Five weeks left.

Due to some kind of processing mishap when it came time for me to pay the cable bill, I finally was compelled to call a person directly and subsequently set up plans to remove paper billing and set up automatic payments. All the other utilities offer ways to pay the bills online if not have the amounts automatically deducted. The cable just doesn't want to do the same, though. In making this call, I was made an offer to have the internet speed increased as well as the cost lowered on a monthly basis for a year. Confirmation of this information doesn't seem to correlate with what I was told in this call, though, so now I have to take the time to connect to someone yet again to see if what I signed up for was going to actually confer any kind of improvement.

Arrangements have been made for us to visit by my parent's place this coming Tuesday so that other family members can be there as well. At least most of the boys are at the young age where all they want to do is run around, so doing that with them is bit more palatable than what's the usual routine for other family meetings. It involves a lot of spectating on our part.

Copula is out, which means the BMSs are out too. It's actually reached a point where my 500GB partition on the machine which is mostly dedicated to ROM data has filled up. The process of copying the data over from one machine to another takes ten minutes each, and then there's another twenty minutes just to expand all the compressed archives. It turns out that WinRAR doesn't like to have it's process closed if you reach a point that the disk is full, and instead it will keep telling you that the disk is more full than it was last time with each press of the Skip button. It was rather bizarre to see a HD portion with 5KB free space remaining.

Visiting the arcade earlier somewhat backfired this week, in that someone else managed to have the same idea. Alternating between just one other player is enough to keep me from getting into a good groove, at least at that time of the day. During one session that the other player had, I took the time to try out Sound Voltex for the first time, and it confirmed everything which I thought I would feel upon actually playing the game. No keysounds, universal sound effects, and lax timing makes for a pretty dull time to me. I can only imagine the sensation a player would have who would play SDVX primarily and then try out IIDX, just to be dismayed at the result. IIDX certainly isn't a game for everyone, but that kind of transition must be particularly painful. Anyway, home song sessions have been pretty good this week. Nothing terribly bad, a few strong improvements, and the majority otherwise didn't stray too far from the records.
