Well, let this be a lesson to myself to stop giving in to the whims of sleep on days off. Stop it. Please. Today will hurt.

The headaches of mortgaging is reaching an apex here. This has been delayed for a very long time, so it's not a surprise, but there are some short time frames hanging over head which is going to make for an interesting coming weekend.

Earlier in the week was the other day off of work which I had, so things were shifted around to have the functional Thanksgiving dinner moved to that Tuesday evening. It went pretty well. My Uncle's young boys are still very wild and untamed, but at least interacting with them (as in, being beaten with foam noodles by them for an hour) is generally more entertaining than other options. I also arranged to have two of the eldest children go with me to the arcade - I figured that doing this was a nice way to have them do something different, as well as have a change up for my routine there. The two cousins who I took with was the eldest daughter of 11 and one son currently at 8. I did have them each try a song on Sinobuz, mainly because I like to see how a totally new player takes to the game, and because I feel it helps convey what's going on if they see someone like me playing it. While I definitely wasn't expecting either child to AAA a song right from the start, I also didn't expect both of them to effectively shut down and blankly stare at the screen in bewilderment after a few key presses. Seeing this happen in person and recalling other stories makes me wonder what kind of future video games in general has; though I guess very much of this depends on the kind of visual interfaces which will come to be adopted. Using controllers and keyboards to interact with something on a screen is now antiquated, or will be in short time. Everything else is on touch screens, and if some kind of VR isn't adopted, something else which goes beyond a simple screen will have to come along. I wonder what kind of mental connection will exist between the games on those kind of interfaces and those who play them. Perhaps it could be an even more direct emotional link after all.

Anyway, home song sessions this week have actually been very good. It's been pretty encouraging to have this good level going after having my expositional play at the arcade to show off to the children result in a fail of the song. I should know better. Still, this is a kind of week for which I have no complaints. Lots of increases and many of them coming with good miss count reductions too. Today in particular was especially surprising, since I have my timing flipped around and have just woken up to have this Saturday session turn out to go this well. Good times.
