Road construction is back in full force as of the start of my work week. The commute into the garage took me an additional half hour due to a bridge being out. The warning signs which they do have up about a road closure was something which I thought applied to a road in a nearby forest reserve area since that's what was first to be torn up after the notices were set in place, so there was little surprise and much aggravation upon realizing that they did mean for it to apply to the main road instead. In the course of work Thursday night I didn't have to endure too much pain on one stretch of highway, but there were plenty of lane closures elsewhere which I was privileged to observe first hand. I did follow a new road home and found it to be similar in time taken for travel, so it looks like I'll just have to take this route until October.

The new air conditioner is in. It works and doesn't leak water all over the carpet, so that's good. The accommodations I made to sleep elsewhere didn't qutie work out, as the second day had a result of me sleeping three hours before my body decided that it was time to be awake. Good thing I didn't have work that day. I suppose it's also as much of a good thing that I had a dental appointment that day and got it over with. Thankfully there were no surprises there.

Songs feel pretty good this week overall, at least compared to last week. Between the pair last week and the ending song here, it's interesting to see a few new clears come in lately. Thankfully I was able to capitalize on the latter's play with a new record to come with it. As usual, the response I have to it is rather restrained, perhaps because I'm not quite sure what to make of the clearing play. Is my skill indeed increasing still? I'd hope so, and there are score increases to support the theory too, but somehow it doesn't register as a point of elation as new clears had for me years ago. Perhaps it's just the difference of age here. Due to the time I had to spend out of the house I didn't have as much time to play them as normal. Arcade session felt a bit better too, but not without me sweating more than normal and finding the keys to have a slight bit more friction on them for whatever reason - maybe it's accumulated gunk from players, maybe it's the perspiration in my hands getting in the way. The progress with Magician's Dead will have to wait until next week, when hopefully the upgrade goes into place and the machine is usable again.
