Sonic the Hedgehog 2006 Part 3: Silver the Hedgehog

Rate this Entry
Since I already blogged about this, not just once, but twice, I figure I might as well keep blogging until I wrap this game up and call it done.

I'll get my tweets out of the way first,

Day 3 of playing Sonic 2006. Started Silver's episode. Silver is actually a lot of fun to play as. So is Blaze.
"That took too long!" complains Silver at the end of an annoying boss fight. "Couldn't agree more." I reply in my head.
Should I even question why Amy Rose can turn invisible or has an insane double jump? #Sonic2k6

Dear Every Game That Isn't Monkey Ball,
Please stop including stages that are like Monkey Ball. It's not cute.
Thanks.
These 20 minute Silver stages are nerve wrecking. #Sonic2k6
Just finished Silver's episode in Sonic 2006; much better than Sonic's game. I actually lost track of time at times!
Still had some bad level/boss design (Bringing you to a point where you HAVE TO die is not cool!), but was still fun throwing crates/badniks
As you can see, Silver's episode is actually a problem for my ranting adventures - I actually liked quite a bit of it and had far less to bitch about then when I was playing Sonic's game. Silver is a slower moving character, so the camera isn't completely crazy most the time, and it's fun to float and grab crates and baddies from around the environment and throw them.

The three or four times you were allowed to play as Blaze the Cat, who is a speed-based character, I could only wonder why she felt so much better than Sonic. Maybe it's because she's a tad slower, although still very fast? Maybe it's because she had attacks that worked in 3D and didn't have to depend solely on the homing attack to get any damage done? Maybe it's because her levels were just better designed and none of them involved her being strapped to a fucking snowboard? Or maybe I just dig purple humanoid cats. I'd be shock if others didn't feel the same way (about her gameplay, not the humanoid cat thing).

Only one character, Shadow, remains and then the "conclusion" episode, which is probably nothing more than a single level, the rumored "human on hedgehog action," and then a boss fight... most likely as Super Sonic, as that seems to be the Sonic tradition whenever a melodramatic story is taking center stage.

It's sad that my biggest fear is being forced to control Sonic again in this game for any period of time.

I recall Shadow having a motorcycle racing level. Also, you should totally visit the marketplace and witness Sega selling hard mode versions of the levels and make Mzo buy them.

Argh. That sounds terrible. I never got around to playing this (or anything else) today, but I'm sure I'll be grinding my teeth soon enough. Hopefully it doesn't control any worse then the snowboarding stages.

I wish there were achievements attached to that DLC because then he would have to! Not completely finishing off a game is like kryptonite to Mzo.

They don't call him Big the Cat because of his stomach.
