SSFIV Tourney Mode = Major Disappointment.

So after weeks of waiting, Capcom released the free DLC for Super SFIV and it turns out to be total crap. When it was first announced, I predicted the Tournament Mode would offer a lot more substance. Instead, we get a poor man's version of Endless Battle where the true distinguishing feature is the trophy .jpeg offered to the victor.
Whoopee. No achievement. No leaderboards. Just a virtual pat on the back for becoming the king of the hill.
I feel they put as much effort into the DLC as they did with Sagat's alternate design (see: Chun Li's track pants) or how the opening cinematic sequences were left in the cutting board in favor of voiceover and static imagery. I was hoping for a more robust tournament infrastructure.
It's great to spectate the other participants, but I think more players would accept the ability for them to actively participate in their pool to keep things going. It's unlikely you'll see a whole lot of sandbagging online since you get one shot to win or it's GGPO (good game, peace out).
For many, these are minor things to be bitching about as greater concerns like finding other level-headed players online who actually recognize the art of entertainment, don't get salty when faced with defeat and resort to colorful metaphors.
Then you've also got players who turn the game into Ikaruga and let the Turbo feature handle their execution. If QCF+P or even DFx2 is too much for your hands to master, Tetris is right down the street.
Looks like I'll continue spending my time with offline sessions or Ranked till something else worthwhile comes along.
