I did some tax form work while using the NHL page to listen to some hockey through a radio broadcast, and I found myself oddly able to foucs more intently on doing the gruntwork of manually renaming fields and the like. I wonder if it's just the change from the usual silence that I work in which makes it a novelty. I'll need to try doing some work with something like ocean noises running in a long loop or the like to see if there's a similar effect. I don't think I'll want to integrate normal music listening with doing work, as I recall that not working out well before.

I'm still having a difficult time reconciling the news about the NSA datamining. There was nothing that I encountered today in doing my retail work which would have indicated that it had happened. It wasn't the topic of anyone's conversation. Everything just moved on like normal. So is this what I do now? Am I supposed to just shrug and move on to tomorrow as I did today and yesterday? Depending on what you read, it's all been as it stands now for years, so any chance to voice opposition is apparently long gone. So that's it, then?
