By my calculations, you college folk are at around the midpoint of the Fall semester.
How are things going?
How are you all managing to study and work in the midst of all the games and DVDs coming out lately?

Study? Work? What are these odd things you speak of?
Hmm. Lesse.
Classes are going fairly well, I suppose. I think I'm doing pretty average thanks to my ever-increasing laziness and Ikaruga, among other games, of course. I always find time to play some games.
I should definitely be doing more work than I am.
Grades should come in the mail today or soon thereafter.
Grades? As in final grades or midterms?
I'm getting metal pads for DDR in about a week. I predict that my grades will plummet soon after.
Mid-semester grades. I think only freshmen get them.Quote:

losers.. its only been three weeks since i started.. midterms are still a week away... or more... yah...
Checked my grades. Just what I thought... couple C's and a few B's. Average.
haha, here's a story for you guys...
two weeks ago, we were given our midterm essay exams for our politics class. we turned them in a week later, and a few days after that, the professor comes in looking kinda piss. i brushed it off cuz i think he always looks pissed, but this time, he was really pissed. it turns out that he flunked 40% of the class on our essays, and gave us a verbal chastising. he said stuff like "these were the worst papers he'd read in 13 years," "the writing was 8th grade level." then he went on about how "tv has ruined our minds," "people don't read as much as they used to," "writing is like sports, if you don't practice, you don't better."
the whole lecture period was basically him ripping us a new one. he said he couldn't sleep, and he couldn't go on a lecture until he got all that off of his chest. he also went on to say that although nearly half the class failed, he wasn't going to deflate the value of the class by curving the essays. thus, a bunch of people were s.o.l. i'm glad i wasn't one of those people.
the funniest part about the whole thing was that at the next lecture, he said that he hoped we didn't take what he said as criticism, but rather as a challenge. hmmm....
anyway, other than that, everything is going dandy (aside from all the stuff i have to do to get ready for lawschool).
This semester seems to be going well enough. I left off most of my college required classes until my senior year (this year), so I'm stuck with taking a language (Dutch), a science class (some bullshit class where we write about space exploration), a class on Ancient Judaism that covers a non-european culture, that sort of thing.
My grades are probably average, Bs, well, maybe closer to a C in a couple of the classes, but for five classes, I don't really have to work all that much.
Nash - your professor is probably right to be angry. No matter what the school, most students can't write worth a damn. Most kids today, I think, are taught that it's more important to write creatively than it is to write well, a policy that ends up creating huge swarms of terrible writers (who probably enjoy writing their own poetry).
