I heard that Xbox live had to be hooked up to your modem that you use on your computer. IS this true? If so, is there a way around this, cause my Xbox is really far from my computer?

A router/cat5 cable to run through your house to your Xbox. Or you can dish out some extra money, and buy a wireless modem, all though it will slow down your ping a little.
well my comp is in my house and my xbox is in my room which is separated from this house in the garage so getting a cable to run from my modem to my xbox will be a bit of a problem.
just direct connect the cable modem right to your xbox
If you mean take the modem and use it only for the xbox then i wont have a modem for the computer.
Then a wireless router, or buying a second modem is your only choice.
You need to either
A) Run a long cable and plug it into the Cable Modem when you want to play Xbox.
or
B) Run a long cable and plug your computer and the long cable into a hub or a router and plug that into the cable modem.
