There is a pretty good selection, but absolutely NO customization. This is a pure arcade style action-fest. Just forget the battletech name & treat it like a great action title & you will get over your dissapointment really quickly. Bottom line, this game is wonderful online. You owe it to yourself to try this out. The high ratings at Gamespot & IGN are spot on.

Is anybody else getting alot of "Dirty disc errors" while playing online? I get booted back to my XBox dashboard after almost every game.

This game sounds excellent, but I have one question.
How fast are the mechs? Are we talking normal Mechwarrior speeds? I hope not.
Tonydoo – I was having that same problem. I’d say in 12 of 15 online games, after the match ended I was booted to the dashboard and greeted with a dirty disc error. Super annoying! I took the game back and got a new copy. The new copy has done it twice out of about 15 games. My Xbox is less than a month old so I hope it is not the source of the problem.
This game is extremely cool. Im on about the 10th mission now and due to no broadband I wont be seein online anytime soon. It is a really cool and fun game but I had one question: When playing in multiplayer and you die, is there anything you can do with your little guy or is it just so you can watch. I was hoping it was similar to the old classic Metal Warriors where you could take someone elses mech.

Man this game is a blast. I played a game of team destruction against Game Cynic last nigh, but I neve managed to hook up with him again after that. Great stuff, but the lack of Session options are the only thing holding this game back from being perfect.

Luckily we had one spare diplexer. Fuckers. I hate Charter Cable Company. Oh yeah, this thread was about Mech Assault...
The single player game, in my opinion, is the sequel to Battletech on the Genesis. It really really is. Not necessarily storywise, but definitely in terms of gameplay. You have your three weapon types, a mech that is neither uber-fast, nor Mechwarrior slow, and you have mission objectives to blow everything up. :) This is a good thing. I can see where some people might get bored though.
I've only played through 3 missions in single player so far, and Grinder in multiplayer (gladiator style combat), er, by myself (my wife was watching CBS all night). I saw JM playing on Live, but he was in-game and I couldn't send an invite. Oh, and Evilmog, I apologize for the invite decline last night, but I don't have Unreal. Sorry.
Even though I like the game, and I'm looking forward to playing against y'all on Live, I'm surprised at the lame ass implimentation of the Live interface. In Revolt, when you looked for new content, you'd stayed in game, on Live, it checked for content, offered it if it was there, and stuck you right back at the Live screen to jump in an play it you wanted. MA kicks you out to a special screen, forces you to sign onto Live again, checks for content (and currently finds none), and kicks you back to the game option screens, as in, "The Game just booted up and you pressed start" screen.
When you finish a game in Revolt, MotoGP, or Whacked (and I assume in Fever), you drop to the lobby for that session (ie, everyone who just played is in a lobby together). MA, no lobby. You have to recreate the lobby and game to play with your friends each time. Big no-no there.
Your friends list in every other Live game I've seen works like this: People who have not yet accepted your friend invite show at the top, then a list of friends who are on, then a list of people who aren't. MA, it normally keeps the list in alphabetically order, whether your friends are on or not. So, for example, if I wanted to see if Werewolf was on, rather than a quick look at my friend screen, I have to scroll alllllll the way to the bottom of my list and check there.
MotoGP spoiled me. There, you could see your rankings worldwide, as well as how you rank against your friends on each track and overall. MA, you have to search through the list of scores on the leaderboard to tell.
Also, the friends list doesn't show what game they are playing if a friend is on. You have to select the friend and see if they are joinable to see what game they are playing. If they aren't joinable, you can't see what they are playing. Every other game works the opposite; You see what they are playing and if they can be joined in a separate frame on the same screen.
These are all small niggling things, but you'd think that a game by Microsoft (well, published by them) would have implemented the Live interface a little better. It's almost like there was no useability testing on it at all. I would think that Day-1 would have been able to see how Revolt, Fever, Whacked and MotoGP worked on Live from a user stand point. I really hope that these are things that can be fixed via a Live update, as they are currently the only thing wrong with the game that I've seen thus far. Sorry for the rant, but it bites my rear a bit the Microsoft could have put this on the beta test and been able to address these issues before the game went gold, but chose not to.
