I agree with everything Cloud has said here about Skies. Skies is a nice feely-good game I suppose, but it's nowhere near FF7, and that's a game I don't even particularly care for.

That said, I very much want to try the GC version. I do wish Aika had been replaced with evil Aika though. :(

You seem to imply playing alot of those square RPG's(as good as they are) make Skies any less special. As I said before, it has alot of good stuff maybe you would 'care for' if you got through the whole damn game.

BTW there's no way FF7 beats Skies, alot of games beat FF7's ass by now. It was just a great RPG at the time.

I wouldn't even go as far as saying FF7 was a great RPG for any time. But, hey, that's my opinion. :P

Normally I would respect that statement, but this is coming from a person whose never even played the game. I could only imagine what wonderful insights you have from looking at the case, but I don't think you've even done that.

Skies is one of the better RPGs due to the strength of its characters and the exploration and discovery aspect of the gameplay. It's nice to play with a group of main characters who are friggin' normal rather than a bunch of pathological, anti-social, schizophrenic lunatics (I'm looking in your direction Square).

As one of all-time favorite RPGs I think I'm qualified to that FF7's story may be more complex, but it's also ridiculously convoluted and not very deep. There really isn't much character development for many of the periphral characters like Cat Sith, Vincent, and Yuffie aside from "this is how they got this way".

Skies' story is pretty generic from beginning to end, but it still possessed an intangible something (atmosphere? pace? direction?) that made you dismiss it generic qualities.


Plus that, Skies had better music.:p

It probably is better or as good as ff7 , but it's been so long that I cant really say.EP is a much better game than SOE though.:P

Amen to that. I wish so many people would get off this game's dick. It was a fine RPG but so many people treat it as though it was the best of all time. There were better RPGs before it and there have been better since.
