Wild Arms 3

I'm starting to really hate this game. I mean, really hate it. I want to mutilate the people who made this game. I want to declare war on Japan over this.

16 hours into it and this game has been constantly bordering on the bland and average to the pitiful and malicious. My main gripe is that the only thing I like in RPGs, the exploration, is completely destroyed in this game:

All the towns are blink towns, rarely occupied by more than three houses and seven people. They are not fun to go through at all.

The world map system is even worse than Wild Arms 2; instead of having landmarks on the world map, you have to constantly press square over and over to "search" the area. First of all, that's incredibly retarded. Secondly, why couldn't Media Vision just put an automatic "search sphere" around your character so that the landmarks appear when you get near it, instead of having to constantly press the button? Thirdly, you can only find the landmarks only if you're told to go there. So that means no side quests and exploring on your own is completely useless (thus, my favorite aspect of RPGs has been fulminated to bits).

There is no ESCAPE command! Seriously, what the hell? I accidentally wandered into a high-level enemy zone and this one normal enemy wouldn't stop healing and doing hit-all counterattacks. It was simply impossible for me to defeat him but with no means of escape, I just shut the game off and lost all the items I found.

Oh, and all the characters are incredibly annoying, who go off on self-righteous haraunges every five minutes. This game is such a disaster.

I recommend nuking it from orbit, its the only way to be sure

It got sent to me so I think I'm biting the hand that feeds me.

I actually really enjoyed the first Wild Arms, which only adds to my disappointment with this one.

Personally I'm liking the game. I've got about 14 hours on it now. I've always been a fan of the series though. I really hate that search system though. I thought it was a stupid idea in part 2 and I think so even more now.

Hmm.

I played the demo and thought it was pretty good.

I'll probably end up picking it up eventually I think.

I thought I remembered there being an "escape" from battle command.

One query - does anyone remember the music in WA1 in the uh... technological transporter thingies? Yeah, I know, I'm being vague, but that was some years ago. The music there, if I remember right, totally rocked. I'd love to find an mp3 of it. Anyone, anyone?

I've put approximately 15+ hours into the game and haven't been disappointed yet. I, for one, enjoy linear RPG's and feel the storyline (while run of the mill) is good enough to keep you going. I will agree that the "exploration" feature is a bit lame and the lack of a run feature is simply retarded. Ah well, to each his own.
