Yao dropped 30 on the Mavericks last night...look at his FG and free throw shooting percentages.
I think most people expected that Yao would need a while to develop - most centers do, so, games like this are pretty surprising. What do you think is going to happen with him?

Anyway - Ming has been having a couple specatulcar games lately - but he needs more time to adjust to the intensity of NBA level games - give him time...I hate the overhype. Its a bit unnerving to realize that not only is this city of houston watching you - but the entire country of china as well. It is cool the see that the Rockets are the number one basketball team in China however!

What's kinda disturbimg to me is even when Yao was playing like a man possessed, the Rocket guards failed to give him the ball during the 4th quarter.
In fact he only had 1 touch, and that was during garbage time.
If there is tension in the near future, one of the guards might have to be traded.
yah... that possible candiate is Catino Mobly... last year he didnt want Stevie Franchise to get all the spotlight.. and now that Ming is starting to play well... i see promblems.. you cant have a 1-2-3 punch.. it dosent work.. Its time for Ming to take charge... and get mobly out, and get a experienced 3 shooter..
Keep in mind that the Mavs (as much as I love em) are a doughnut - ZERO in the middle. I'm not saying Yao is a fluke, I'm saying those numbers are highly misleading, considering he was being guarded by people like Shawn Bradley..that's like fifteen feet of human being combined :confused:. He's got a good sense for the game, and can shoot, but I don't think he'll ever average more than 12-15 ppg.
From what I've seen so far, Yao Ming is a 7-5 finesse-based big forward. He's like a Chinese version of Rik Smits, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I think the international exposure is great.
The Rockets have Glen Rice to bomb 3s.

A young Rik Smits would still be an above average center in the league.Although I think he'll be head and shoulders above a Rik Smits type.
I checked out some of the Rockets/Cavs game and he was making that European center, Ilgauskas (who is one of the best centers in the NBA) airball.
Ming, can be more than Smits, he got the handles, the soft hands, and looks to be a hell of a lot quicker not to mention a better shooter. He already has displayed a post up game, a fadeaway jumper, and some moves reminiscent of Olajuwon.
If the Rockets offense went through Ming, he would definitely average 20+ per game.
Remember, he's only 22 years old so he's got a lot of time to bulk up his upper body.
