Look at the Item Description of the magic wands you currently have. Notice how some of them say that the wand is "capable of casting extremely powerful magic"? That's Great Magic. If your magic-user currently has a Great Magic-enabled wand equipped, she will cast a Great Magic spell as her PWS in lieu of the usual PWS attack for that spell. Each attack spell has its own Great Magic and its own awesome cinema to go along with it. Most of the early Great Magic-enabled wands you get early in the game break after you cast the Great Magic (Element Scepters, for example), but later on you'll find some unbreakable ones.
