Need help - Video Editing

Ok here is my problem. I had some 3rd Strike fights save in one of my VMU, the thing is that the VMU is full and I don't want to lose those fights. I'm thinking to save then in my PC in the form of videos but I don't know how to do it so I need some help in witch software I ca use to do it.

Here are my PC specifications:

Athlon 1GHZ
512MB
2 HD of 30GB each
1 CDR
1 DVD Room
Creative Sound Blaster Live
Gforce 2 video card

P.S. If I can make the in to video maybe I can find a place to host them so all of you can see my 3rd Strike skills :D

The problem here isn't the software, it's the input. You need some way to get that info into your computer, which is going to require either a higher end video-editing card (which can be very expensive from what I've heard, never looked into it) or a much cheaper (in both price and quality) Radeon All-In-Wonder.

Once you get that settled then worry about editing software. And you plan on uploading videos off your 56k? I hope you have another net source, or way too much free time to let your puter idle and upload.

Well the easiest way to do it is to go out to Best Buy or CompUSA and grab a Dazzle Video Capture Kit... any model should do... I think there's a basic one with a RCA port input that you can hook up to a USB port. As a plus, I think it's on rebate this week or something.

If you use that, then you can just plug in your DC into the inputs and use their supplied software to make some basic videos.

This thing? Actually looks kind of nice, I wonder how good it is. I could certainly use something better...

You need a good multimedia vid card which, sadly isn't the same as a good Gaming card. 128MB of vram - preferably with dual ddr channels and s-video (at least) input jack. Adobe Premier is the best for editing video. You may also want to double your system memory and I like RAID 1 (or better) confgiuration for nearly all purposes because I tire of read-times on harddisk drives. Video editing is a task that likes a computer made for it. This, I find, is why Mac's are so appealing besides looking nice. A PC can do the job fine and even better if you gear it more and more towards that task. Personally - I would invest in an ATI All-in-wonder 9700 pro (best there is and offers lots of flexabiltiy), 512 MB more of DDR RAM, and 2 SCSI (if supported) 20+ GB HDD's in RAID 1 config. That and lots of cooling. Lots of it. That 9700aiw, and Athalon are going to get VERY hot and SCSI (should you choose that route) likes fans of it's own. That'll cost a pretty penny, but for now - the 9700AIW will work great.

I was thinking in record it in VHS first and then pass it in to the PC.

For upload it in the net is no problem since my bro have DSL

Well, that'll work, but what are you hooking up the VCR to? Besides, that would be pointless as you could just play the video through the DC into the PC (if need be route the DC through the VCR to the PC) skipping the VCR record altogether. If you have a good connection, it might come out clearer then the VCR (though that's doubtful).

But if you need the VMU space, go ahead and record them on the VCR now.
