Its wrong to dl and burn games but...

I don't feel bad (if a game doesn't have a soundtest mode so that I can atleast record it on tape) when I download and burn it.
Somehow I try to justify it by thinking that they are already so expensive.

I've only got one official soundtrack, Silent Hill 2, it was easy to get a hold of through Konamis local store and relatively cheap, but otherwise there is no chance in hell that I'm paying for it unless its some kind of orchestrated version.
Ofcourse I could always record it while playing if its possible, but I don't.

i've done it before, so i'm not gonna say it's wrong, but if i really like a soundtrack, i'll usually go out of my way to buy it.

Copyright violation is copyright violation. Its basically a moral law. You aren't harming anybody by doing it, as long as you aren't paying for it, but it is a nasty habit.

I don't mind buying them, but some of them are so damn hard to find (and the music is so good) that I could see resorting to burning it, or even buying a boot-leg. I have a decent of mix of authentic OSTs and bootlegs, and I have yet to lose any sleep over it.

i burn all of my music soundtracks. i dont see how someone can pay $20-50 for one cd no matter how good it is. now compilations and multiple cd's are another thing but i dont ever see myself buying an expensive overpriced one disc soundtrack.

Gee... looks like I'm terribly in the minority of actually buying video game music, and wanting to support the people who create what I enjoy. Last thing I bought?

I'll put it this way: If it's a game I already own, I have no qualms about downloading the OST if I can. I consider the rights to play the game music as a part of the rights to play the game I purchased. If I really wanted to, I could simply record this music from the game itself - I did this all the time when I was younger. Downloading an OST just saves me the time of doing that myself.

If it's a soundtrack I'm espically fond of, I'll buy it. But JP CD imports are expensive, and I simply don't buy them that much. $30+ CDs cut into funds I could use to be purchasing other games instead of music from games I already own, or music I don't already own in some form. And bootleg stuff from SM/EA isn't worth the money or effort either.

I buy my soundtracks. For one thing, it's great to have the official cover art and anything else the company decides to pack with it (stickers, etc). $20 isn't that much for an import CD, so I spring for it. If it's from one of my topmost tier favorite games, I usually will go to $40 if need be.

I am broke as a joke. If I didn't download my sound tracks and burn them, I wouldn't have any of them. I don't see the harm as long as you are not out there selling them and profiting off of someone else's idea.
