Well do you?Or do you just try to get to the end?
It varies from game to game. For the Crazy Taxi games, I do. For games like Virtua Fighter and Tekken, where ranking can be determined, I'll play for that. After a while though, I'll just start making up my own scoring and ranking systems. Very few games feature ranking systems that are as thorough as the ones I use.
Making your own ranking systems......?
I try to play for score when I'm playing shooters or any other arcadey genre. Personally I think that those games are pretty dull if you try to play them with straight through continuing millions of times.
And then there several action games that have been misunderstood because no one is interested in playing for score. Strider 2 and the recent Shinobi are the best examples. The latter is pretty boring if you try to play through levels without getting full tate , and most of your victories over bosses will seem pretty random (if you just try to go through to the end)if you dont sit back and learn the boss mechanics and all. But yeah , playing for scores cant save a game if it's shit to begin with *cough*Gungrave*cough*
Yeah, make your own ranking system isn't too hard. It just requires a pen, some paper, and some imagination. Stat tracking can get pretty fun if you get absorbed into it.
Most of the time, no. I do play for score in games that I've beaten and want to improve my skill in, though. Fighters and shooters are probably the only games I feel are worth playing through for score.
Oh. My. God.Quote:

Pretty much only fighting games and shooters. The occasional game like Crazy Taxi also. That's about it. I really stopped giving about playing for scores along time ago otherwise.
I've never been a great game player... thus, it seems I'm never the one with high score at an arcade or whatever. I just play for fun and I prefer to have a game with a more tangible reward for the player. In recent memeory, the only games I've ever gone out of my way to get score is where there's an additional incentive ... like unlockables, for instance.
In shooters and such games, I prefer just to set goals and achieve them, like passing X number of stages on one credit. Meeting my self set goals rather than tailoring my playing to a standard of "quality of play" arbitrarily determined by some individual.
Of course, there are exceptions to the rule in all cases... sometimes I'll get good at a certain game and I enjoy comparing my performances against others... like at one point, I was addicted to getting a high score at my local arcade for Point Blank/Gunbullet... but these are exceptions to the rule for me.
Well it depends on the game, RPG's don't exactly have a scoring system ;)
I do play some game for score alone, take the "Credits Shooter" in Moto GP which is one of the most annoying mini games that I couldn't stop playing... at least until I beat Wolffen's score :)
Werewolf where is that picture in your avatar from? I like to get art from games and such and that looks really cool.
