Going to Golden Corral in 1981, entering a drawing to win an Atari 2600- and actually winning it! You cannot imagine the rejoicing in my house the day we got the phone call. All we had was Combat for about 4 months and it didn't matter. We played the crap out of it.

Here's more, that happened recently.
- Winning the chance to PURCHASE a Gamecube. I thought that contest was for a free one. I was so pissed. Here I was all happy, hearing the worlds that someone who wanted to win something wants to hear on the phone.
Female voice on phone: "Mr. QW%EDQFQ? Do you remember that contest you entered for a Nintendo GameCube last week? Well, you've won!"
Me: :eek: "Sweet, when can I pick it up? *excited* I'm glad I waited to buy one, now I get one for free!"
Her: "it'll be $149.99 when you get here."
Me: ( you can't imagine how I felt when I heard that ) "What? Didn't you just say I won the GameCube?"
Her: ".....no, it's for the chance to PURCHASE a Gamecube, since our store is getting them in short sup...."

- Then, when I thought it wouldn't get any worse, a get ANOTHER call a day later....

Man: "You entered a contest for an X-Box giveaway a few days ago...?"
Me: *excited, but wary* "YES."
Man: "Well at the bottom of the entry card, you checked a few boxes and put your email address, and I was wondering if I could interest you in some product information ( had NOTHING to do w/ gaming, btw ) ?"
