Stupid Childhood Gaming Memories

One of them is when my cousins neibibor was the first to own an nes.. The whole block was their seeing him play SMB, and Kung-Fu.. i just remember saying oh my god, its like the Arcade..

My Cousins other neibor, who had a Sega Master System, no one was at hous looking at him play.. hell they let us play with it...

Umm i also have fond memeories of arcades.. games like Ghost and Gouls, Elavator shaft, this sumbermine game, popeye, ms pacman..

i also had a uncle, who make aracde cabinets, so i recall playing frogger for free,, dozens of times, and other arcade cabinets hey laying around the house..

I've got lots of great video game memories.. here are the stupidest..

- finding Mighty Bomb Jack at Kaybee for $19.99, thinking I'd just hit upon the greatest bargain of all time

- seeing the slowdown in the Zelda forest and thinking that the battery in my cartridge must be dying (hey, gimme a break I was 12! Didn't understand the concept of saving games..)

- having my SNES freeze up when I finally got to the Death Star level in Super Star Wars :mad:

- writing "Genesis Does What Nintendon't" in my school notebook

- constantly taking EGM's Genesis scores as gospel :sweat:

As for the reviews, I take it you rented Sega Monaco GP because of the score, ( they gave it four perfect 10s, was it ) am I right?

- I was at a Camp Ground near Wisconsin Dells when I was like 9, and in the Lodge they had Street Fighter 2: Championship Edition. Its the first time I had ever seen a game like that. I was blown away by the characters and colors. I could not do a single special move but I must have dropped dozens and dozens of quarters into it. And then one night we went to a Dog Track (same vacation) and I saw these asians kids playing it and this one kid was fighting M. Bison with Blanka and beat it. I was amazed at the fact he could do the moves. I feel so stupid now at the fact how easy the moves were, but it was the first time I ever played a 2D fighter, so yeah.

-School was delayed 2 hours due to snow, me and my older brother were killing time while waiting for the bus by playing some Super Mario World, we were still in our coats when we look at the clock and see it was now 12:00 Noon. And we had skipped school. We did not get caught some how though.

-SF3 had just came out and the Peanuts Gallery Arcade at the Mall of America had it, much like the first time I saw SF2 I was blown away. I only had 2 quarters so I could only play it twice. I go to pick Sean and accidently picked Oro. The cabinet did not have move lists on it and I had no idea what to do with Oro. And then the machine ate my next quarter. Oh well.

-I was playing Tekken 2 on the Arcade and was about 4 characters into the Arcade Mode (first time ever played it), some older jerk comes up and pounds my Law with his Paul. And then says to me, "Get out of my 'Cade!" I found that pretty funny. I kinda laughed and he goes, "Round 2!" I then left in confusion.

-I remember there was this Non Chain Video Game store on this little mall in our town called Mega Bits. Thye had a few Cabs in there and just got Ultimate MK3. I was so happy to fianlly be able to play as Scorpion again, but the whole thing was ruind becase the place had a Guns and Roses Pinball machine with the volume ALL the way up, I could not hear anything happaning in UMK3 due to constant "WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE!" that rang out when you put a quarter in it. And of course it also goes, "WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE" when you hit just about anything in that game.

FighterX, EGM gave Super Monaco GP two 10's. I think the other two scores were 8's. It's still ridiculous though.

that is classic!

It also reminds me of Revolution X! XD haahaha thats one of my #1 fav games of all time (seriously).....I remember when me and my best friend beat it at this arcade....because his totally rich dad would give us like $30 in quarters....

Thus we wrap up this portion of stupid childhood gaming memories. Thanks for the stories. I will forget them by tomorrow.

My fondest childhood gaming memories in no particular order:

1. Playing rampage with my best friend on NES for 100 so levels, than spilling coke on the console.

2. Making out with my first girlfriend while playing columns for the SegaCD.

3. Playing my genesis seconds before my house got struck by lightning, therefore destroying my precious.

4. The great sega vs. nintendo debates during 7th grade lunch.

5. Ocarina of Time basically getting me kicked out of college. (term paper or horseback riding? the eternal question.)
