Geez...lots of mark-downs lately...
Strolled into the EB near my job during lunch today and was suprised at how cheap games are getting lately, especially when it comes to PS2 games- check these bargins out:
Virtua Fighter 4- $19.99 (Gonna get it)
Bloodrayne- $29.99 (I bought it for $49.99, and I haven't even really played it yet. *grumble*)
Parappa the Rapper 2- $9.99
Headhunter- $19.99 (Anyone play this? How is it?)
Deus Ex- $19.99
Gungrave- $29.99 (Finally! I might actually pick this up now)
Fighter Maker 2- $29.99
X-Men: Next Dimension- $39.99
Ninja Assault (w/Guncon 2)- $49.99 (Cool- a free Guncon 2!)
Plus, I noticed several new titles released at $39.99, including War of the Monsters.
I have to admit, the prices are going down a lot faster for this genration of games than for the last one- it seemed to take years for PS1 games to go down from $49.99 to $39.99. I'm happy, I mean shit, my wallet needs the break.
Also, they had sheets of game discount coupons at the counter for an instant $10 off on tons of good PS2, GC, and Xbox games. Here's a few that were covered:
PS2: Onimusha 2, Ninja Assault, Sub Rerbellion, X-Men: Next Dimension, State of Emergency, SW: Bounty Hunter, Robotech, NBA 2K3, NFL 2K3, Reign of Fire
Xbox:Shenmue 2, NFL Fever 2003, The Thing, Dark Angel, Serious Sam, NBA 2K3, NFL 2K3, Robotech, Reign of Fire
GC: Jedi Outcast, Robotech, SW: Bounty Hunter, NBA 2K3, NFL 2K3, Mat Hoffman Pro BMX, Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly
Plus, there were other coupons for mail-in gift vouchers on the coupon sheet, such as $20 if you bought Bloodrayne (which was already marked down to $29.99)...
Just thought I'd pass on the savings, kiddies. :)

Thanks a lot, this is helpful. I went to best buy and they have a whole rack of $19.99 PS2 games, like VF4 and Max Payne. Oh, and I also went to EB and they had MGS2:Substance for 20 bucks. Was that a misprint, or is it for real? I have no desire to pick up the game(just a bunch of VR missions), but if it's real, it'll help the people that want it.

Deus Ex - the PS2 port is pants. Get the PC version. It came out like 3 years ago so there's no excuse to have a PC so shitty it couldn't run a midlevel game three years old.
Gungrave - a shitty game that's only $29.99 is still a shitty game.

Had no interest in picking up the PS2 version of Deus Ex, anyway. As for Gungrave, I heard both good and bad things about it, but I thought it looked interesting. No place is renting it, however, so I have no way of knowing. What exactly about it is shitty, in your opinion?
The Amazing rate at which games are discontinued and see massive price drops
It has come to my attention and many other gamers here that the rate of games seeing considerable price drops these days is staggering. Sure top sellers like GTA and most First party Nintendo games sell at their original price point for long periods of time but for other platforms the prices can be cut within weeks.
As others on the board have said in the long run this can't be good for the industry, but of course sharp eyed consumers like us who spread the word can benifit greatly.
My concern would be if a niche smaller title was released and sold poorly and the price cut quickly, it may close the door for smaller companies, and the chance of seeing more lesser known titles would lessen. Of course for every game like Rez there is a Dr Muto and other games that don't offer anything different.
Another trend is budget PS1 titles coming out, and becoming tough to find. Plus the mystery of Kof, and Guilty Gear Advance.
Your thoughts?
