Auto Modellista: NA Version

IGN has some impressions of the North American version of Capcom's cel-shaded racer Auto Modellista: Link

Most notable information:

"Though the game is already available for players in Europe and Japan, the US version will feature nine new cars -- seven of which will be American muscles cars --, three new tracks, and a couple of new courses."

"Additionally, Capcom producers explained the US version driving controls would loosen up and powerslides would become more possible. This change is made due to the criticisms it received in the Japanese press. As we played it, we could see and feel the looser, less stiff cars move with a better and more responsive feel."

This is very promising news. I have been on the fence about this game.... but if some of the complaints I have heard about the Japanese/Euro version have been improved on it may well find it's way into my home. I hope so anyway.. I love how the game looks. :)

Yeeeeesss! The biggest thing that I didn't like from videos of it were how stiff the cars seemed, but now I'm excited again :D

Yeh, if they corrected the complaints others have had about the Japanese/Euro versions I am possibly excited again as well... as long as the offline mode is good, that is (since I don't have any plans on getting PS2 online any time soon)...

The European version of the game was apparently released without any online play though... so, it can't be too bad.

I'll still probably rent before I buy though.

Uh oh. Capcom may get me to buy a PS2 BBA earlier than I thought...

Anybody have impressions of the single player modes?

I pretty much lost intrest because of the bad press the import got on the gameplay tip.

But if they cleaned that up and the single player stuff is good, I'll be all giddy n' exicted again!

Fantastic news. As long as the reported car problems were fixed, I'm happy. The addition of the muscle cars is just too cool.

Cool news, when I was playing this before I thought it would be cool to have the 1969 Mustang Cobra that was in the Gunsmith Cats anime as a car especially since it's cel shaded and that car rocks :)
