A Hoagie is made with cold-cuts
A Sub is made with heated meats like steak, meatballs, chicken
A Grinder is a Sub or Hoagie that has been toasted (with the meat 'n cheese in the bun) in a broiler or otherwise.
Mman, what part of the world are you in? They got it all wrong.
One thing's for sure, getting a right proper cheese steak, (or pizza for that matter) on the west coast can become like a treasure hunt. Probably the same can be said for finding proper Mexican cooking on the East.
