I am assuming the reason that this item is $70 is not because they actually expect anyone to buy it for $70. I'm pretty sure the reason this has a price is to prevent people from canceling their pre-order after they receive the free disc. Amazon lets you cancel pre-orders up until the minute they are sent to ship. This way, if you cancel your Zelda pre-order they will probably charge you $70 for the "free" disc. Is this legal? Apparently not. I don't know that Nintendo will do anything about it though considering they probably won't sell any discs at all by themselves.
If they did, there would be 354 threads to that effect in this forum alone. There are no threads, so there is no deal. Sometimes the simplest explanation is the right one.Quote:

You do not know this. As the largest distributor on the internet, Nintendo may very well have made them available to Amazon separately.
It doesn't matter if they have magical bonus disc fairies or if they paid Warren Sapp five million dollars to ransack Nintendo's bonus disc storage archive. It's totally irrevelant. The only pertinent information is that Amazon is selling for $70 that which can received for free with a $50 purchase.Quote:
"CybrGamr's arguement is the most ridiculous that I've ever had the honor to witness."
The best part is - I have made no argument. I simply don't believe we have any facts to support that Amazon is price gouging. Nothing more. You all have made the assumption that the only way Amazon will get the game is through the bundle - for free with purchases of Wind Waker - and that they will sell the bundled copy for $70 separately. That may not be true and none of us have any proof to the contrary. All we know is that Amazon is selling the bonus disc for $70. We do not know how they will obtain it or where they got that price from. We have only made an assumption.
That makes some sense, but I sure as hell wouldn't allow Amazon to get away with that. That's credit card fraud.Quote:

"$70.00"
They better be tossing in N64 GOLD ver's of each game, for that price. (plus a N64 for being dick's)
Crazy, I say go to a local store pre-order and get the FREE disc in feb and the real game in march, then sell the game later. thus makeing money. all for 49.99, plus whatever you make for selling zelda.
I'm sure there would be big problems with people canceling their orders after the bonus disc shipped if there were no penalties, but I still don't like how Amazon is handling this. Gamestop.com has it right by just not allowing anyone to cancel an order after the bonus disc has been shipped. I don't see why they don't just do what gamestop.com did.
Amazon, the same company that patented one click shopping. The same company that owns a spyware company and uses their technology against you (Alexa). The same company that treats their customers like labrats with all their little pricingQuote:

"experiments" (They were even forced to offer a public apology over this).
Just because Amazon is big and mainstream, does not mean they're not slime.

I guess we have Nintendo employees right here on the message board. I didn't realize this. I am humbled. You're right - how could I be so silly. This board is so important that you are informed of all decisions by Nintendo and Amazon.
((The incredible hint of sarcasm is intended. To think that nothing can happen in the video game world without this message board knowing anything about it is the most incredible part of this whole thread. That is not intended as a slam to anyone in this board. But unless anyone can show credentials that they work for Nintendo or Amazon, then not seeing posts on this board about it means nothing.))

Agreed. And we have no knowledge as to why (only assumptions - because this message board knows everything). So until that point, Amazon has done nothing wrong. I always thought it was "innocent until proven guilty" in the USA. Show your proof that they are selling the bundled discs (the Not For Resale discs) without Nintendo authorization, and you have your case. Burden of proof is now on you....
I have received a response from Amazon - but I prefer to let Burgundy tell us what it was. Somewhere on this board the message must already be known....
"It doesn't matter if they have magical bonus disc fairies or if they paid Warren Sapp five million dollars to ransack Nintendo's bonus disc storage archive. It's totally irrevelant."
Wrong. This thread started by blaming Amazon for price gouging. I believe Nintendo provided them a retail price for it and they applied the same standard mark up. It is not irrelevant. I have emailed Nintendo as well to see what their stand is on this...
I can put a label on my bands CD case that says "You're a dumb bitch" that doesn't make it true.Quote:

Although in some peoples cases it might.
Nope. Wrong. Incorrect. False.Quote:

I have received 3 replies from Amazon - none answering my question. I continue to reply asking the question in a different way. Once I receive a satisfactory response I will post it.
I have also emailed Nintendo and will post that reply as well.
I called it...
