While I still think they've been great, EA has definitely deteriorated their quality. Tiberiun Sun was EA's fault almost entirely.

What? Poor Westwood. Say what you want but I liked C&C games. Sure they werent as good as Blizzard ones, but we still had good times playing G&G and Red Alert.

No you don't. EA is healthy to the gaming community. It helps the financial aspect (market) of the industry soar and without them we'd be years behind where we are today (companies losing money on consoles, better hardware, better software, bigger budgets = more fun for the most part. Unless we're talking Acclaim, naturally.)

FUCK MAN! I love Red Alert. It's my favorite RTS series. I love Warcraft but the computer difficulty in multiplayer sucks ass. THey're so hard unless you have something like trees surrounding your base.

Sad day for me. What about C&C Generals?!?!?!

EDIT: Upon actually reading the article it doesn't sound too bad. Jobs in the videogame markets aren't overly hard to find and most of the layed off will probably make it over to the Los Angelos studios (they're hiring on 300 more devs! That's outstanding!)

You just have to not play the game man... it's not always about just your tastes and likes.

The writing was on the wall for long time about this. I remember Fatbabies predicting this something like a year ago. EA buys up developers, guts them, controls them, and throws them away when there's nothing left. Bullfrog, Origin, and now Westwood. If the Sims weren't so hugely popular, Maxis would already be showing signs of doom.

As long as they continue to screw up games I might like, produce games that I don't like at all, and kill developers I once liked, EA aren't good to me. I don't give a damn about the 'industry.'

I don't agree with your conclusion, so no, while I do wish EA would shut itself down I do not wish it for a "crippling setback".

Ok. You don't agree, that's fine. But what do you think would happen to trading rates if the largest contributer to the video game market shut down leaving less than half its revenue left over.

I understand WHY you want them to shut down from a logical standpoint: they faulter quality, right? But them shutting down wouldn't be a good thing, overall, to gamers.
