Damn straight.
I returned .hack (cause it's poopie) to get BoFV, and I'm not regretting it in the least.

Well it should, the man who did Final Fantasy Tactics did this as well, Hitoshi Sakimoto :)Quote:

I haven't played it yet, I was more excited before I read all this stuff, and I still urked about the whole Dragon limited thing :p
It will take a miracle for this to beat Suikoden III for my favorite PS2 RPG right now ;)
I agree. I'm a n00b to the Suikoden universe, but darn-it, is it ever good!Quote:

Suikoden III was crappy, and by far the worst game in the series...IMHO of course.
After I finish up BoF and Dark Cloud I'm gonna give it one last try.
Maybe you should have played it more, it really didn't start to grow on me till I was passed all the intro and 1st chapters but after that the story really kicked in and it is one of the best games so far IMO ;)
You and Regus with crappy lately, I really think your to hard on it... I would play Suikoden III over BofF IV anyday and I like the BofF series.
All the reasons I have with SuikIII difficulty are valid, look through any of my posts about it.
Challenge is good...making you restart the game because you can't advance the story (because you can't win a battle, and because of the save point you can't venture off to buy items/gain exp) is just poor design.
And after the greatness of 2 (and 1 to a certain extent) 3 was a huge letdown.
BoF4 is one of my fave rpgs of all time btw.
It only took one hour for me to die my first time. Damn I suck.
I agree with Kidnemo's reference to Grandia, but I feel the gameplay ideas of Resident Evil are more prevalant then any other source. Item boxes, limited inventory, the need to seperate monsters from packs, their inability to follow you through doors (which doubles as escape from battle), stuff like that.
This Dragon form, however, will be the end of me multiple times. I screwed up majorly by wanting to see Dragon Breath right away and accidently held it down too long (dealing about 3000 damage to some enemies with maybe 200 at most), so I started off my D-Counter at over 10%. Tough monsters litter the hallways all over the place and I'm already at 31.34% at five hours in. Things aren't looking good for my Lacan.
That dying so early and restarted was actually kind of nice, because I already started getting new cinemas within the first couple minutes. Oh and the visuals and sound are excellent, I am in awe of the art design team (That dragon carcass was fucking sweet, and the transformation is sweet as hell!).
Truth be told, if you like quick battles this is not the RPG for you. Enemies must be lured and manuevered even before battle begins, and once it starts careful track must be kept of movement and attacks. Think Grandia but turn-based with the ability to move people yourself (hence the X-Com nod). I do wish that the digital pad could be used in-battle since trying to trim off a single AP from walking to lengthen a combo can be a bit of a pain with the analog stick.
I wish your party could keep their regular experience as well as party XP when restarting. It would make redoing those early areas much quicker then just having good equipment.
[edit] And I also got the standup from Funco, which now resides in my room. I'm sure the ladies will love that. I had the guy there also put my name on that sweet as hell Wind Waker standup (if you've seen it you know what I'm talking about, the 3D-layered one with the waves), but I have a feeling the other employees will try to get it themselves from me (probably claim it got thrown out).
I'm loving BoF Dragon Quarter so far. Yeah, it's dungeon-crawly, but it's really interesting dungeon-crawly. Those dad-gummed spiders are creeping me out. The difficulty is nice, after three times I'm still not minding restarting (though of course I try to prevent it) and the style is making me happy.
Is anyone else reminded, just a little, of Vagrant Story? (though I never played much of it, still need to) I'm thinking more Vagrant Story + Evolution + random strat. rpg... (never played X-Com) (hoping that it stays as interesting) I love the faces... and the music. and. Nina. and. Rin.
o_o Pah. Dirty to put something so stinky in front of playing BoF: Dragon Quarter...
>:\ Is it just me or is it almost as if Capcom doesn't want it considered a sequel? I don't see "Breath of Fire V" anywhere on the package or in the game, so far.
Just did my first Give Up after using 40% of the D-Counter in one area. Damned soldiers. I'm also kinda anxious to use my first new third-level skill for Lacan (what I named Ryu), but can't find any swords that will let me change that slot! Argh!
Debating how long I should hold onto party XP before I start using it to power up my characters from the start. I think I might wait until I'm sure I can do a complete run-through and then give my guys a massive boost right off... although it's tempting to have such power right now.
So many desicions.
