The Vic Viper sub mission is just one level, in a cave, like Gradius. Lots of fun though, collect powerups like Missile, Ripple, Option etc.
Glad to see my advice came in handy, CV

Very handy, Chux!
I played up to the "kill the robots while making sure the civilian buildings don't get blowed up" mission and loved it the whole way through. I'd like to know who, exactly, designed the mechs, as they look fantastic. Anubis in particular.
The Vic Viper kicked my ass, too, until I began using the "defend" button. Fly around a bit to dodge the missles and other crap he fires at you as the jet, and then when he comes in close, block. He sits still not defending for a sold 3 seconds after he's done with his combo. I usually toss a Geyser at him, to make sure he doesn't move, and then whoop on him.
I've played that fight over and over, as I love the remixed Gradius boss music, and the Vic is just so damn cool! This method works every time. The only damage you take if from those missles you haven't dodged.
Yoji Shinkawa designed the mechs.Quote:

Thanks, Dole!
Hmmmm...I need some help. I just got past the bit wherein Ken does the whole stop-go thing. Now I'm at some kind of facility, and this weird old guy wants to "test my skill." Sure, fine...but where the Hell is he?! I've taken every elevator in the damned place and have found nothing. Lil'help?
P.S. The train mission was balls hard. Much worse than Vic.
So is it the hardest part in the game?Quote:

I feel so weak.
Well, I haven't fought Anubis yet, so I can't really say. It's definitly the hardest part up to that point, though. Vic is cheese compared to it.
ehm, spoilers i suppose, if you haven't beaten the game.Quote:

The flying ships. Holy fuck.
At one point I had like 5 raptors, 2 mummyheads, those migdet mechs that come in groups, those homing lasers, machine guns, and other ships blasting at me with its death ray, all at once. I died, a lot. :( but i still love the game. :)
Viola and the "crossing swords" battle was a bitch as well.
Thanks to the both of you.
I feel envigored to beat the train this afternoon!
Anubis is owning me.
It's like every new level makes every level before it look like the easiest thing ever. :(
Well I finally beat this game a few days back and it was an awesome romp. While its short (7 hours sounds about right) the difficulty is hard enough to make it seem longer. There are alot of memorable battles like the whole war with hundreds of raptors and other enemies, the fight against the armada of ships, the frustrating train fight, saving Ken, fighting Viola various times, the battles with the old man and Anubis definitely (although he's pretty easy once you find his pattern compared to the rest of the bosses) It outclasses Z.O.E and other games in every way.
I'm doing some of the EX missions and they are pretty cool with the different Jehuty's. Anyway you can't go wrong at 30 but I still think I got my money's worth when I first bought it with the extra content.
