My biggest jump would be from a P166 with a 4 meg video card to my current PIII600 with a GeForce 256.
I play(ed) Half-Life on both machines. :)
I did a motherboard/CPU upgrade a couple of months back... went from a firstgen Athlon 700 to an Athlon XP 2000+. My old parts generally go to either of two places: upgrading my parents' PC's, or building Linux servers (I have three of them now).
I just need to get a new hard drive (more so I can put my main PC's old drive into my main Linux server), a new video card, and maybe more memory, and I'll be set. :)
youre a guy? :D :bang: :DQuote:

Hey, don't you work at a game site? With a forum? A forum that could use more threads like these?
I just ordered a new PC after 7 years or sumthing.
My current system:
P133,48mb, 1Gb HD, Voodoo3Dfx, SB16
Teh new:
P4 2.8GHz, 80Gb HD, 512 DDR, GF4, SBlive5.1 :D
Set for another 6 years ;)
Shit man thats a huge jump congrats!
My big jump was going from a 300mhz amdk6 to a 1ghz Athlon.
I now run an Athlon XP 2100+/ 654 megs ram/ ect...
Ha, you guys ain't got nothin on my jump ;)
I went from a P1 200mhz 3.2 gig hard drive with 16 megs of slow ass ram and no video card (it was onboard)
to
Athlon XP 2700+ 120 gig 7200rpm hard drive, dual ddr 512 meg pc2700 memory sticks, and a geforce 4 ti4200, needless to say I'm happy!!!!!
(btw i had another computer between there, but that was the families, these are just mine)
My jump was going from a 2.5 gig Emachine (no Pentium) to a 60 gig Emachine with a Pentium 4 processor. I was blown away by the speed.
