Just last week, I too upgraded from:
Pentium III 450
384 SDRAM
80 gig HD
Geforce 3 Ti 200 w/ 128 DDR
to
Athlon 2100+
256 DDR
new 80 gig HD
same Geforce 3 Ti 200 w/ 128 DDR
cost about 500 to upgrade it, and i took the video card and sound card from the old one and put them in the new one
and this is only the families new comp... After graduation I get my dream setup

Looks like I will be needing to upgrade my PC as well, any recommendations. I can build one no problem but I've been out of the loop as far as what is out there in the PC market.
I can't go too high price wise and I really only need a the PC itself but I want a decent video card in it and a good size hard drive would be nice :)

Werewolf, you could do what I did and get a Best Buy open item computer. I got my 60 gig behemoth as one and it saved me hundreds of dollars (only cost $420.) Although I'd recommend getting an extended warranty for it, as the thing being an open item does increase the chances of something going wrong with it.

Get a parts list from a dealer in your area. (search online or shop around)
Compile your own PC and you get warranty with it as well (normally).
I did it that way and I have 3 year warranty with mine.

Even though I would have no problem building one I'm leaning towards buying one simply because of updating my OS and gettings parts would almost cost the same as buying one and as long as I can get something close to what I want I'd rather go that route.
Of course if that's not possible I will build one as a last resort, since finding time to buy all the parts and putting it together might be kind of hard for me to do :)

Yeah, I built my own. I'm only 15 so I'm not moved out yet, and I needed a new computer, so I asked my parents if I could build a new one (having never done it) and they allowed me to get whatever I wanted! I pretty much got my dream machine, but there were a few extras I didn't get simply because I felt bad about wasting the money...
Now everyone is jealous of my room! I'm spoiled, shoot me

I'm still living in the stone age with this Pentium II 300 Mhz. :(
I always say I'm gonna upgrade, but I can never seem to get the cash together.
I think whoring myself out to the neighborhood pervs will soon be a viable option.
