They do remove the need for disc swapping shenanigans, but they don't work flawlessly every time. There are a small number of games that aren't compatible with modded foreign systems.Quote:

Mod Chips are suprisingly easy to install... you don't even necessarily need to solder anything (i used sticky tack and electrical tape on my PSX)

I remember buying a chip for my US DC, thinking I could solder it, then saw the TINY wires coming from it, and just used the swap trick instead. Still have the chip in it's original sealed package.
