New R-Type for PlayStation 2
Irem has announced R-Type Final for the PlayStation 2. Reportedly, it will have new enemies, an astounding 50 levels (this has to be a boss-fest or arena-based), 3D graphics, and will be the swan song for the respected series. A June 2003 Japan release date has been tacked, and though there is no American release plans as of yet, it is much more feasible than most Japanese niche games; recent R-Types have made it across the sea, along with Disaster Report and Sub Rebellion.
